The problem with XJ towing 3T is not the engine
you have a mid size wheel base a small D35 real axle and monoque construction so the trailer ends up steering the XJ
If you want to tow 3 T regularly and want a Jeep then a FSJ is the choice standard with a 360 V8 and plenty of weight to tow well ...

Its not so much the tread, but the diamater. the Diesel is slow enough as it is. It can only be worse turning 35's in the traffic. Which is why I am thinking about keeping the 31's as dailys and the larger tyres for the weekends.
