The only parts you would need is the bellhousing kit, one engine bracket (the standard engine mounts are retained but I put a limiter on them), brackets to remount the power steer and a/c and the exhaust manifolds. I am looking at doing a kit at the moment with a cast bellhousing which would leave ...

Just fit a VH45. They are heaps lighter than a 4.2 especially with an auto behind them, they are have variable cam timing etc to give you a flatter torque curve and throttle response, they are unbreakable with 6 bolt mains and a strengthening cradle (I have been reving mine to 7800 everywhere I go ...

A few questions;
How do you mate the VH45 to a manual gearbox? I notice people are saying they are putting the patrol box on the end of the VH45. Is the bellhousing identical to a 4WD manual gearbox or do you have some sort of bellhousing adaptor? Or can you perhaps even swap the bellhousing from ...

My GQ is too hot!!
Here is a question for the V8 Patrol owners - how do you keep them from overheating? I have serious underbonnet temperature problems as well as the radiator boiling after a normal drive... The radiator that I used is from a 3L GQ with dual thermofans (are all the GQ radiators the same?) but I think ...

You can also buy generic optical kits that have a pickup that bolts to the points mount and a chopper wheel that slides over the rotor shaft. The only electrical hookup is to wire the black box to either side of the electronic ignition coil. I have seen the same units in auto shops with different ...

Use a ceramic coating if you can. The Thermotec is good if you have under bonnet temp problems or a racecar and no other options... The wrapping causes accelerated rusting and makes the pipes more prone to cracking. I still use it - but more selectively. I think it would be a waste of money on a 4x4 ...

Elgas LPG is the highest octane and most consistant quality.
LPG is a has less energy than petrol but higher octane so if you are looking for a performance setup - add turbo(s) and don't decompress the motor. When injection gets sorted - yipee, but for now just use an impco or GRA carby and wind ...

I my main welder is a UniMig 240 which (at the time) wasn't much dearer than the 195. It has copped some serious abuse over the years and if flexible enough to weld automotive panels to big plate. The only problem that I had was the digital electronic control unit that displayed the amps etc couldn ...
