Re: Hose Lifespan

What about the "teflon lined core"?

the PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene :- teflon) liner will out last any other hose on the market, most are rated up to 300deg C working temp and 3000psi working pressure (the stuff I sell does anyway). With the teflon liner, never ever bend it any further than it ...

Re: 40 series lengthened wheelbase

i have lengthened my wheelbase on my 79 model 40 series , & after much thought about it ... this is what i ended up doing
turned the rear spring pack around & because of the offset in spring centre bolts this gave me a few inches , then i had to rotate the diff cause now the pinion points ...

for the hose I'd go with some 3/8 plastic air hose from a truck parts supplier, cheaper than fuel line and will last longer (wont perish as quickly)

I got onto a mate who is a sub agent for Colrain (sp?) who deals with carrols on a regular basis, I can get springs at cost +freight, std 40 springs $70 per pack, 2" raised $80 per pack, std 55 $80 per pack, and 2" raised for $95, so its a fairly cheap option as a custom pack is only $40 extra ...

use 55 series springs. They are longer and have the small eyelets. You wont need to change hangers.

the 55's are no longer than the std 40's.......just the 40's have an offset center pin which is 2" (ruffly) closer to the front than the rear, the 55's center pin is centered on the spring.

you ...

the best way to bleed the 40' clutch slave is to pressure bleed from the cylinder up to the master, but I assube you dont have access to a pressure bleeder. The other way to do it is to press peddle down, open bleed, and let it syphon to the cylinder, close bleed, release peddle, and the cylinder ...

some people say not to use alloy because it has a greater chance of cracking due to it being more brittle than steel. Over 5yr that I was doing H/V alignments we had no cracking of the wedges (mind you 12tons is alot more than your average 2-2.5 4by). I think the spring width for my cruiser was 2.75 ...
