Re: Laminova Cored Intercoolers (Home Brew 2. GQ TD 42 )
I just thought I would follow this up and say since I have welded the whole thing up, I have done probably another 4 or 5 thousand KM and had no further issues, so it seemed the very attractive welding had reached an age it needed touching up, but the manifold itself seems to be good still. Cheers ...

Re: Stray current corrosion
I have been through this.
I fitted a sacrificial anode to the radiator.
It is slowing getting eaten despite all my hard work, but that is what its for
do you have a low coolant alarm out of interest?

Re: Blow-by but good compression?
I would say, oil in coolant, and blow by, and boost for years = motor on the way Mine first time was a cracked piston Then I had issues loosing coolant for no reason and ended up being a liner low of the top of the bore (Thanks UMR engines) Under both of these conditions nothing was apparent upon ...

what do you mean a small ridge?
I welded the crack, it has held, the bastard has cracked elsewhere.
Looking like I will pull it off and reweld the whole fecking thing as a temp fix until I have time to sort out a new setup.
Suggestions?!

ahaha nah she goes alright mate
Interestingly, I noticed the crack Sunday, got it welded Tuesday, and by Tuesday the front had cracked too, in the exact same spot, was just starting to go.
This spells bad things me thinks :(

Yeah rad is isolated and I will keep it isolated. I agree that earthing it and increasing flow only makes it worse. I think I am going to put a sacrificial anode in there, clean all the earths and be done with it. You also jogged my memory, I actually had to get an indentation from a bolt head ...

How much are the hubs?
Was the C clip issue something they have rectified?
Are you still running these CVs or have you gone another path after the "decent" but not really as good as may have been hoped performance?

maybe you could enlighten the rest of the board as to what the solution or your findings were?
at the end of the day you could get your factory tacho adapted to suit the sender you have, if it is not easily matched.
Cheers, Andy

look at the photos I provided,
then look at this

then tell me you still think the welds on the tank have full penetration and are strong enough for a very hard life under my truck.

"If it doesnt leak then there is no issue as to penetration" I do not agree with this, it could not leak, but fall off its mounts. or open up in 6 months time on a corrugated goat track if welding to stop leaks was all that was needed to be a penetrating weld, then why would you have higher powers ...
