GQ Wheel Bearing Torque

HI Guys

Just replacing my front wheel bearings in my 97 GQ Patrol. What method do I use in tightening up my wheel bearings. I read my manual and it says to torque them to 3 -5 Nm but I dont have the required special tool as its not a normal nut, it just has two holes in it.

Yeah I have their Mud terrains on my suzi. Totally thrashed them and they are still in good condition. Would definately recommend them for those on a budjet.

Carrying Water

Hi guys

Going up to Cape York in a few weeks. Just wondering what you guys use to carry water in a wagon. Is there a tank for the underneath of a GQ patrol.

What about those bladder type containers? Where do I get them from?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Did you not have any problems with any of the tracks since you were towing a trailer?

Do you reckon it would be worth taking a boat? Im from Darwin and a keen fisho.

Thanks

Where did you get the rod end bearing from? Did you strengthen the chassis frame where you mounted the shackle?

Vane type pump

Hi

All the Piston engine aircraft I work on use Vane type Vacuum/Pressure pumps for Instrument air. Its low pressure, high flow. They set them to about 6" Inches of pressure. Whats that in PSI, I cant remember.

Hi I got a price for $75 each for Model 126 steering arms. I have searched the topic but couldnt understand it completely. Do I need one or two steering arms. Is it that you only need 1 if you want cross-over steering but two if you want high steer?

Great to see so many replies.

Everyone is got some good points here. I understand that the slightly offset timing that the computer will receive from the standard dissy will not greatly effect its fuel delivery. But will greatly effect the ignition timing as you have the computer and mechanical dissy both advancing the timing ...

Computer controlling timing

I still think your selling yourself short with not letting the computer control the ignition timing. What im after is how to lock the mechanical advance part of the dissy so it wont advance with rpm. Dissy

Im a bit confused. The computer needs to know when #1 cyl is at Top Dead Center. If you use the output of the hall effect sensor out put for the computer RPM it will be wrong. As the relationship between the output of the Hall effect sensor and #1cyl being at TDC will change as the mechanical ...

So what do I do with my DISSY

So whats the story with my dissy? Do I have to get a new one or modify my origninal. Mark what did you do?

I was thinking of somehow locking my dissy so it doesnt advance then just use it as a camshaft position sensor.

Ignition

My standard dissy is a hall effect type. But as the vitara computer does igintition as well, do I have to lock my advance mechanism in my dissy so it doesnt advance when you increase RPM.

Where do get a Toyota Surf MAP sensor and what model supercharger was used?
