Mate in reguards to costing, its a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. Best case is a head gasket and plane the head. worst case is a complete rebuild. Get a quote from a good mechanic and weigh up your options.

Goona Dexter is right the GEN1's are lighter so they should get better economy, my mate's one is duel fuel it works really well, we did a trip together a few months ago him on gas me on diesel, fuel cost worked out about the same but he was towing a lot bigger boat than I was. I dont think that ...

GOONA My diesel use's around 11L/100k's it used to be better when engine was newer. Best figgers ever were 989k's from 1 tank of diesel, pajero at that stage had done around 250000k and ran 30inch tyres, it now runs 31's and this did not help with fuel economy but definetly better off road ...

G,day Goona Mine has the turbo diesel engine fitted great economy no speed, a friend of mine has V6 in his he hasn't had it that long but reckons about 14-15L/100k's is about right, A lot of it depends on how hard you drive it. When you look at one to buy, look for low k's and a good clean overall ...

G,day Goona Ive got a NG pajero bought it in 95 it had 133000 on the clock, it now has 437000 on it apart from regular maintenance (brakes servicing etc) all I have changed is the idler arm , lower ball jionts & shockers rest of it is still original. We have no plans to sell it & are planning a trip ...
