Go a LPG injection system if your gonna do it.

The TB48's are a tough reliable engine.

Only downside is, they have a drinking problem with fuel.

Thats the normal ratio they run in the auto's.

Not sure on the VQ bolting pattern but the VG30DETT uses the same gearbox as the RB30S and RD28T/ETI.

I have a feeling you will need the front half of the VG30 gearbox and the rear of the RB30S gearbox.

The Z32 300ZX ran the same diff as the GQ and GU to. The R233 in the rear, however its in a IRS ...

The engine mounts will bolt up and the KA24E is built off the Z24.

4.8L GU's have a tendency for the cats to collapse.

The 2 oxegen sensors are known to last 100,000km's aswell.

Look at these 2 if you think its down on power.

The biggest VG series motor is the VG33E used in the R50 Pathfinder and D22 Navara.

You could use the front half of a VG33E Navara gearbox and the rear of a RB30S gearbox.

Only VG30E/VG33E and QD32 powered D22's got the H233B diff your looking for.

R50 Pathfinder's run the same rear diff aswell and VG30E powered WD21 Pathfinders.

Anyone here sat in the back seat of the current shape Navara?

It has to be the smallest rear seat of any dual cab ute on the market at the moment...I was shocked at how small it is.

That being said, the drivers seat/position was the most comfortable out of all of them.

I have a 2006 D22 and have clocked up over 170,000km's now and haven't really done much to it other then servicing.

As for old mates comment on Hilux's being better I am yet to see why they are better.

My Navara goes anywhere a Hilux can go with the same mods.

Look for a 2000 model ZD30 GU that has had the engine replaced with a Nissan rebuild kit.

A untouched 2000 model ZD30 powered GU is asking for trouble, anything after 2003 should be fine.

But in saying that, id rather have the power of the ZD30 over the RD28ETI and running the risk of it failing ...

The QD32 is a great motor, they will kill a 3L powered Hilux.

They are a updated version of the TD series motor. Designed and built by Nissan Diesel, not Nissan.

JDM GU shortys and GQ Shortys ran the RD28T with an auto as optional, so wouldn't be hard to adapt.

But it would slow.

The engine will be the KA24E, Terrano's run the same motor.

U12 Pintara's run the same motor, U13 Bluebirds run the KA24DE aswell.
