Ok thats very unusual, normally its the autos that drink fuel we never here of people with manuals having economy issues, So i would suuggest its probably an injector problem, its quite common,

Check the air intake system, sounds like too much fuel/not enough air in the mixture. Check for really rediculous things. I have seen a cleaning rag stuck in an intake, inside the air filter, which was the cause of some really crap economy.

What is the power like? Clogged air intake does sound like his problem, but if the power is good, I'd be getting Nissan to check out ALL the sensors. I don't think the fuel can be just wound up or wound back on the newer stuff. Sure would make it easy tho.

I think you mite have same problem as my friends d40, its a injector problem, might need a new injector rail for it. should come under warranty.

while highly likly to be injectors, change the fuel filter first and most importantly reset the ECU.

hi guys, we have a d40 at work that had similar symtoms. it ended up being a broken timing gear teeth, skipped teeth, ( i think ecu tried to adjust fuel mixture to suit the timing after teeth skipped) and ended up needing new injectors at the same time. nissan dealer said it was becoming a more and more common problem. definately get it checked by dealer
