Re: 12V Impact Wrench..What to get?

Batteries, Batteries this is the secret to Impact wrenches. Do a search on the WEB makita lists a cigarette lighter adaptor charger to cahrge their lithium Ion batteries. It takes much longer compared to 240V power but means you can always have "fresh" batteries. I would recommend 18V versus 12v ...

Will be very interested to see what you do with it. Had a look at a single at a Camping show last week. My mate and I thought that even with the single cab the chassi might be a bit short to get a decent length body on it. Just thinking that for a EV. I would like to get out of arm reach of my ...

Re: I want to put an auto behind my 6.5l Chev

Well there is a couple of options. Since you already have it mated to a Patrol gearbox. I would imagine it would be pretty easy to make it fit to a Patrol 4spd auto. The 4 spd auto out of a GU is better. As they have a bigger torque converter. But basically the same box. The other option would be to ...

My TD5 disco was happy to run with a battery with a blown cell. Was only reading 9.6v after coming off the charger. Once jump started the ALT was keeping the system at 14v so I could get home and buy a new one. Col Cranking Amps of a battery are really only important when it comes to starting. Once ...

If your after a sorta budget airbox. Landcruiser airboxs are a little pricey, but there filters are cheap as. And are easy to make 4" inlet and outlet.

Re: attaching synthetic rope to pto drum

I am using tape to hold my rope to the drum of my hi mount. I have tested it to stall on the first layer no problems. As others said, just cut that stupid rope cutting lug off and feed it in the hole and crush it with the grub screw. Toughnut is correct. How you attach the cable has nothing to do ...

Sorry that was a misprint above. It's out of a 4.5 GU. I was told it was the same box???? Both are 4 speed but it appears the electrics are slightly different. There both the same box. The GU 4spd has a bigger torque converter. Dont think there is much else. Sorry cant help with your problems ...

If you tow its great for back trailers or caravans on hardpack surfaces. My dad does it all the time in his 80series.

In your case I am guessing not real useful. Its just an option that running dual cases allows.

Re: Explain dual cases to me

I always thought that there is 2 parts to a transfer case atleast on a patrol there is. They have the range selector (High or Low). which then bolts to the transfer case which selects 2wd & 4wd. So there is an adaptor made by marks4wd to bolt 2 range selctors together. So guessing that if a lux is ...

I wouldnt bother swapping R&P just for 33's. I did lots of touring on 285/75R16 (33") tyres on 16x8 rims and it was perfect. But if you really want to swap them. I would try and get the whole centre mounted in a 3rd member. Then its a really easy job to swap. Actually I am not sure if the pinion ...

I read that thread ages ago. Even started looking for the extruded aluminum. Decided that at $180 for a 20" its not worth the effort. Only benefit would be, would be that I know what the globes actually are. As some of the cheap stuff have awfully crap quality globes.

negative 22 (-22mm) is what the standard Toyota off-set is. And that has worked for me on 285/75R16 and 35x12.50R15. You still get some rubbing on the chassi or around the rear seat belt bolts on the rear. Only way to stop that is to space the bump stops. Which is what I should have done. But never ...

Was talking about this issue yesterday. For a GQ with 35's we think 4.3's would be perfect for touring. I used 4.1's with 33's and it was pretty good. Speedo read a fraction slow. But my GPS lived on the dash, so I just used that. 4.6 gears with 35" tyres also works out that the engine is doing ...

I remember when the 4.8 GU first came out. Someone from Vic, who was totally anal about weight. He fitted a lowmount winch behind the bumper on a 4.8lt GU.
He used one of the winch cradles available at the time. It may have been made by Brawn.
