Re: gearbox problem
Same here - if you have the manual locking hub version try this with engine running - select low-range neutral, release clutch pedal. Now push clutch pedal and try to shift High-range out of reverse and then shift low-range back to high/front. Have'nt the nerve to attempt a repair myself yet...

Guage fuse
Gratefully problem sorted! Aided by Board Members' help traced the wiring around fusebox and found that when tapping the loom and connector running into central locking control unit, whilst engine runs, causes surge across Gauge fuse terminals. Engine vibration when engine starts or foot brushing ...

While fixing another problem, found Central Locking System is aftermarket Sanji Intellica Vision CDL. According to Website, to reprogram the Anti Hijack feature you have to press a hidden switch at some stage. Unfortunately you have to be registered before downloading the installation manual and I ...

Gauge Fuse F78
Stu, looking at the list you provided I suspect it blows due to some or other relay switching on. While stationary I bridge the fuse with my Amp meter, which I quickly remove once reading goes above 10A. Noticed after 5 or so Starts in succession, current started to reduce, eventually only spiked ...

Have to sort out blown Gauges fuse and so also looked at wiring of security system. Must be aftermarket because wiring's been cut and patched all over, :bad-words: mess. I'm too scared to open the black box right now and can't get close enough to ID it. Other original fixtures etc. seem brand new ...

Thanks RockyF75 - Fuse cover shows it as 7.5A. With IG switched ON, draws 650 mA which increases to +/- 750 mA when glowplug relay activates - guess it's the current drawn by dash indicator as it comes on. Once switched to START and engine fires up, current shoots up to 20A+. Could be vibration of ...

'99 Rocky F78 Gauge Fuse problem - please help.
Thanks all for helping sofar with my slightly tempramental Rocky. Now I have the 7.5A Gauge Fuse, supplying instrument illumination, warning lights, Voltmeter and Tacho blowing as soon as IG switch is turned from ON to START and engine fires up. Does not seem to affect any other functions. One can ...

Thanks guys. Will check this out in the morning. Have never owned a car with remote central locking before. The old Safari LDV (Patrol in Oz) hasn't even a bonnet release inside also drivers door lock can obviously not be engaged with door open. Got the Safari new in '82 and it has had '88 BMW and ...

Replaced hoseclamp on turbo outlet hose, old clamp ran out of adjustment and left substantial leakage. Now a clear power increase around 2000 rpm, more responsive - tempting for stoplight dragging ;) Replaced brake servo vacuum hose - imagine wife trying to slow down this little tank without servo ...

Locked out by Rocky Central Locking!
Left my new '99 Rocky F78 idling to open the driveway gate. Door clicked shut behind me on the incline and left me without backup keys or remote  Eventually unlocked by 'specialist' without damage - Rocky piecefully idling for 40 mins and nicely warming up. Must have offended :finger: car ...

Yes F75 I'm with you on the speed issue. I can hear the turbo whistle on rapid gear change, but this modulating fanlike sound puzzled me. Thanks to all the advice I checked the tubing around the turbo this morning, lots of grime around outlet from turbo to intercooler, hoseclamp very loose ...

Thanks All. Big Stu and Spartacus I'll check it out. There is this rising sound, besides other 'normal' sounds occuring around about 115km/h. Bragging to my wife it's the turbo  : Sounds vaguely like a higher pitched fan running up and modulating with speed as you cruise at 110 - 120km/h. I ...

No play in accelerator cable when pedal fully depressed. On most inclines the last 1/3 pedal has virtually no effect if above 100km/h going in. I bought the car 3 weeks ago and have done 3200 km since. Beforehand checked out two others, both with larger diameter tyres, but higher milage and they ...

Sorry I missed your post just now. No it does not get to 3500rpm no load. Mechanic tried it stationary (on gravel sidewalk and it blew a huge cloud of dust and some smoke, passersby ducked )

 Engine was previously tuned by 'diesel expert'. I expected more performance and better fuel economy. Presently the car cruises nicely at approx 100km/h for 8km/l on the level. In between 100 and 115km/h it flat spots a bit then eventually peaks at +/- 120 km/h and for est. 6km/l. What ...

Rocky F78 max revs.
Mine has a fair amount of power up to 3000rpm, struggles thereafter up to 3500 max, blowing lots of smoke and never goes above that.
Being new to diesel I would not dare to try 4500 no load.

Please help - Rocky F78 2.8 Turbo lacks revs (max 3500rpm)
Engine smokes (black) somewhat, has fair power but refuses to rev above 3500rpm. Consumes 8km/l at best at 100km/h on open road. Could it be the max speed setting on pump? Blows smoke already so maybe mixture setting also incorrect. Have tried injection cleaner additive, new fuel filter, cleaned ...
