In my opinion you will be changing gears before you make any useable boost.Hidatid wrote:I was told this is a good turbo for the 1hz any thoughts?

I will disagree on these facts your turbo man has said. Does he have dyno figures/ proof they are too small, or is he just going off what the horsepower rating is.
A 300hp, 200kw 1hdt is possible. If its at the tyres it had better be in 2wd only. It will be smokey down low. It took alot for us to ...

Re: Bigger turbo on an 80 series
Have upgrading plans for my 4.2 turbo diesel and wonder if the stock turbo is any good, thinking of around the 300hp mark :? Am going to get an 3" exhaust all the way, FMIC, custom intake, if the stock turbo is out of the question, am going for maybe a GT2871R.86AR or a GT30.

New to this forum I have a set of denco inlet pipes as I bought a PWR cooler only to find, that if you go by the PWR flow specs on the biggest that will fit under the bonnet (same size that denco use) you will find that your engine will choke up after 3000RPM EGT,s will sky rocket boost at manifold ...

In my experiance yes,...... if you check out the PWR web site (they supply denco with liquid to air coolers) and calculate the air flow required at 14 psi for a 4.2 Litre 4 stroke engine at 4000 rpm you should find that the rated CFM of that cooler equates to the above engine at about 3000 rpm
