Ok guys, so I have a gxl 80 1hz diesel. I've just swapped the injector pump out because it was leaking. It was replaced with one from a standard 80 with no tacho sender.
With the pump on the bench there was no easy way to swap the sender in. It would have meant drilling/tapping the pump.
So I'm wondering if there is a simple way to add a sender (cheaply) to interface with the standard gxl tacho. Either on the alternator or an injector pipe, or another way.
I've read all the threads I could find but couldn't find a definitive answer. I'm wondering If this has actualy been done (ie a gxl dash into a standard) or if people are just going with an aftermarket tach bolted to the pillar/dash instead.

Another 1hz tacho question
The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
Did one couple of weeks ago on a mate’s povo pack 80 that he put a GXL cluster into, (what a pain in the bum that turned out to be)
Solder wire into alternator off one of the three phases at the diode pack buy a speedo corrector kit from jaycar KC5435 $55 +freight assemble the kit and calibrate to get the revs right
Easy.........If you are handy with a soldering iron and basic understanding of electronics
Personally I would fix the old pump and put it back in.
