Re: Pajero Solid axle swap and other modifications

Sorry, I do not have any pics taken during the installation. Another plus is that now I roll 33" muds with my standard 4,88 diffs.

Re: Pajero Solid axle swap and other modifications

BTW I also bought a low transfer case gears fro the Pajero from
Marks4WD last year but never got to install it because of the still
death wobble problems, now I plan to install it. I have the
instruction sheet but I don't have pictures or videos of the
installation. Is there anywhere in the net ...

If you want to go to 33's, and keep the original behavior of your rig, the best way would be to go for 4,875 diff gears.
And you HAVE to change both front and rear, otherwise in 4X4 you will brake your transmission.

"Taller" 5th gear in my PAJ

Hi guys,

I have the V5MT1 gear box, which is a nice and reliable gear box produced by the truck division of Mitsubishi. With that gear box they have fixed a lot of the old problems they had with the first generation.
However, the 4th gear has a 1 to 1 ratio, and the 5th has only 0,83 to 1. The ...

First is equivalent with 33X11,5 second is 33X12,5

That error will just be standard speedo error

The speedo error will occur on original size tires, and would be approx 5 to 6 %. But he drives on 31"s, which is 5% more radius than standard, so that speedo error will be counter-balanced, even more the speedometer will read less than actual speed ...

Just for fun, I made a system of equations, and I finally came to a very simple formula:

If you assume that the tachometer in your car was originally reading the speed with very high accuracy, and that your diff gears have been changed, your actual gear ratio = the original gear ratio X (Speed GPS ...

I also have 31's, original diff ratios 4,875, but my speedo reads 100 km/h when the gps says 106 km/h. So with bigger tires than standard, your speedo should read less speed than actual.
But, if you assume that the diff gears have been changed, you can calculate your actual speed, if you know your ...

If my calculations are correct, than the final 5,285 ratios should help me move from 29,6 inch (actual diameter of 265 70R15) to 32,1 inch, and therefore 33's should not be a problem.
The math behind is like that: New tire diameter = (old tire diameter X new gear ratio) / old gear ratio.
So, I ...
