oh... ive taken angle iron to reinforce the front of the chassis, and welded the mount of the D ring straight to the front of the angle iron... like on my old rig.

in the past ive disgarded the hooks on the front... instead ive gotted 9/16- 5/8 D rings and welded them right to the front. one on each side

those 55s are nice, i almost bought one for $300 a bit ago, but the rust got too it and it had nice basebal size cancer holes all over it. it ended up goin to a scrap yard...

it should, ive never had a problem. i did it with my 82 4x4 when i rolled it. went to the junkyard and bought another one off a 2x4. the only thing i had to change was making a hole in the floor for the 2 tcase shifters behind the trans stick... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y158/wagner_bret ...

im not too sure about down there, but they had the 2.2 (20r) from the mid 70s to 81, then the 2.4 (22r) til 85.5. then the 2.4 injected (22re) til 95 i think. i wish they had a 2.8L diesel up here tho

we call that a 609 axle over here. if you find a 35spline ff dana 60 rear you can take the axles and outers out and fit em on a 9" housing... just have to get a big bearing 3rd and fit a 35spline aftermarket locker into it...

the 22r and 22re's are great motors, ive always had troubles keeping them cool, hence ive blown a couple of head gaskets. the other downfall is the single row timing chain, although that can be replaced with the 2.2L (20R) double row chain...
