2 wheel drive hilux cab on 4x4 chassis

as above i am wondering if a 2 wheel drive hilux cab will bolt on to a 4x4 chassis or is there much work to get it to fit

it should, ive never had a problem. i did it with my 82 4x4 when i rolled it. went to the junkyard and bought another one off a 2x4. the only thing i had to change was making a hole in the floor for the 2 tcase shifters behind the trans stick...

yep it can be done, the bare cabs are the same, u just need to inlarge the gear shifter hole to accomodate the transfer shifter.
The cab on my hilux is a 2wd cab, better cabs to start with as they havent seen salt water or excessive mud

Depending on your model....you may have to do some other mods

I have a 94 Xtra cab on an 84 Extracab chassis, the cab is about a foot longer than the earlier one so the rear mount had to be moved, the later 2 wheel drive cab also has a flatter floor pan so at least a 3 inch body lift has to be used to clear the gearbox and cross-members

For each hilux series the cabs are identical in 2wd and 4wd drive bar the gear stick holes. The floor pans are also identical. If your mixing and matching series cabs and chassies then yes you may need to move a few mounts. But as long as you use the same model all you need to do is enlarge the shifter hole. Again the floor pans do not change from 2wd to 4wd. Ive been buying damaged hilux's and repairing them for re-sale long enough now to no these details as fact.

Regarding the 3" body lift comment. The only time i have ever had to do a body lift to clear a cab is when you fit an extra cab body to a 4 runner chassie or an early SWB hilux. The horse shoe crossmember gets in the way as it is further forward than the extra cab/single cab chassie due to the fact the chassie/wheelbase is shorter.

Correct as are the plastic inner guards and also the front bumper bars and indicators on the 10/88 and later hilux.

if its a live axel front you will also have to trim a small bit from iner guard to clear the steering box

Ive heard this mentioned before but have never experianced the problem. But ive also had wreckers tell me the cabs wont swap.

when i did a cab swap on my old 81 hilux i found the cabs from 2wd to 4wd are the same apart from the front body mounts
