What motor have you got?? I had a similiar issue on my 91 NH 3.0 V6 Auto i had. Wouldn't go under 2500rpm on idle too, found problem to be idle control valve, got second hand replacement from wreckers, fixed issue and stopped doing it..

Ended up getting set of rear standard height leaf springs from a lwb model, which gave me about 70mm lift from where it was, cut upper bump stop rubbers on upper control arms, wound it up with slight rake to suit rear, ride isn't to bad at all now, little bit firmer than what it was. It was a 4cyl rear diff, 8 inch housing and centre from a 1987 nd pajero, as far as i know. It has the 28 spline axles, was a lsd 4.86 diff if thats any help to what axles they are. Doing A Project At Moment, Have Found That My 1987 Nd Pajero Rear 28 Spline 4.86 LSD Diff Axles Are Interchangeable To A Ford 28 Spline 9" Diff. As Getting a Standard Ford 9" Centre Modified To Suit My Axles And Axle Tubes. An Fairly Easy Way To Get Any Ratio You Want For Your Pajeros!!!!!
