RN46 Hilux build plate; Where?!

Possibly stupid question. In order to avoid pulling diffs out to check ratios, I would like to consult my Hilux's build plate for the diff code. However, I can only find a compliance plate in the engine bay. I don't see any empty holes on the firewall either. Can anyone tell me where an RN46 usually ...

'81 Lux...How high before you *need* hi steer/crossover

How high can I lift my '81 before I have to go hi steer or crossover? I know hi steer/crossover are both far better than the standard steering. I will do one or the other eventually. But for now, retaining stock steering what is viable? I was thinking of 3" springs and extended shackles (probably 2 ...

Ebay panels and lights for RN46

Looking at some of the ebay panels and lights for my RN46, taillights, bonnet, corner lamps and indicators in particular.
Anybody have any experience with this stuff? How is fit and quality?

I second (third?) the EFI idea. Buy a complete R31 sedan in good running condition (crappy or smashed bodywork maybe), for probably $500-1000 and swap in all the EFI gear, and ignition obviously.

I'm an utter offroad novice but I am 100% sure if you're running petrol, then EFI is the way to go.

How is the noise with the 3" system? Is it from the turbo back or from the dump pipe - dump looks incredibly restrictive stock on those things. Might try blocking off the wastegate but my logic tells me it would be more accurate in terms of boost control to block the pop-off valve and use the 'gate ...

SD33T boost up?

G'day, My partner's old man just bought a SD33T Patrol. I've been mucking about with my skyline modding things and will soon have a small intercooler, turbosmart boost tap and a boost gauge all surplus to my needs, which I was thinking might go well on the patrol. But I am totally inexperienced with ...

Some modification ideas, gimme some thoughts..

Some Ideas I have, wanting to run them by more experienced 4X4ers than myself... -Racing Bucket seats and 4 point harnesses? good or bad idea? -Racing style fuel cell - good or bad idea? (assuming range not an issue). I was thinking it could place it anywhere I wanted for weight distribution, plus ...

wow! thanks for all the info, that'll definitely get me started! So no big V8's are going to wedge in there without a fight, hey.... I guess a VN commo and auto will have to do then. I do like the idea of a 1UZFE, but looking at bubs' buildup, it sounds like a big hassle...then again, I guess that ...

RN46 a good first 4X4? A few generalish questions too..

I'm planning on getting into 4wding soonish. I've always liked the look of the RN46 Hiluxes (probably because my old man had a RN30 2wd for a long time) and its my leading choice so far as a first 4x4. So far most of my car fiddling experiences have been to do with making things get lower and faster ...
