Re: CCDA external roll cage rules
Ok guys I drowned in shite somewhere around page 3 so forgive me if this has already been addressed. Cages and safety equipment are something that I've been harping on to some time, I've spoken at length to officials in the CCDA, as well as competition organisers like Hobzee, Pete, Dave etc. The ...

Re: basic coilover setup.
Thanks for the the info and starting this Matt. Not exactly a shock question, but this Separation at the frame should be 1/2 or less than separation at the axle From what I've seen heard over the years, this is largely dependent on a combination of wheelbase, arm angle and where you want your ...

Re: Hilux rear diff conversion? XJ Cherokee
It was something I was considering with mine until It got written off.
I was going to go front and rear though and go to 6 stud so Rims were more readily available.

Be few and far between yet with a 6L80E I would think at this stage, and those that would will be a 6.2, not a 5.7 or a 6.0

Re: 80 series LS conversion
The 6L80E would be nice, but if I was going to spend that sort of money I'd go a Duramax and an 7 speed Alison. The reason most A440 boxes don't shift properly and eventually die (mine included) I have since discovered is because the kick down cable needs to be adujsted exactly right, as it also ...

Re: How strong are 80 series drive hubs?
The early ones had a tendency to flog out the splines, you can either change them to the later ones which will also mean getting new CV's to match as the splined section is about 10mm longer. You can also get solid 4130 drive slugs, I think Trail Gear and Longfield do them. OR...just put a set of ...

Anybody with a lux truggy/comp truck that knows what thier front/rear axle weights are ?
Need to order some springs, but mine is in no state to get to a weighbridge.
If you do know, please post up and what sort of setup you're running so I can make an educated guess for spring rates.
Cheers guys

Re: 60series diffs under a hilux help??
Just remebered, two other options. Use an 80 front, and IF you can find one a 200 series rear as they are center offset. Just change the hubs and brakes to get the 6 stud pattern back. Lastly, a 120 seris Prado I've been told is also center offset, same track as an IFS lux Has a different center ...

X2 for the Auto, I used to feel the same as Milo, but after having the auto in the 80, I wouldn't have a manual again in a "toy" 4WD
It's one less thing to think about when negotiating tricky tracks adn is a lot les stress on your drivetrain.

Re: 60series diffs under a hilux help??
The biggest killer with diff centers is deflection under load. It's one of the reasons 9" centers are so bulletproof, they have a second bearing on the end of the pinion. The Cruiser high pinions run bigger bearings than most hilux centers, ( I believe the V6 and current model centers are the only ...

Re: 60series diffs under a hilux help??
Cut and shut an 80 rear so you get a disc brake rear and a centered pumpkin. (Ends up the same width as an IFS rear lux diff) Keep your existing front diff add a 80 series High pinion center with either a locker or a late V6 hilux 4 pinion carrier. Also fit a wide track kit. (then it'll match the ...
