Gday , Im needing to know if the slipjoint on the front driveshaft on gq is serviceable or not ?
Ive tried pnumatic and hydrolic pressure at the grease nipple but it wont seperate ?

Hey guys,
in a bit of a pickle... Im in a massive need of an 81 SD33T 5 speed gearbox but unsure where to get one.
i have tried a few in sydney wreckers that is. E.K.R has suggested gearbox express (campbelltown) however they want a bit too much on their part ($2500)..

My old boys got this problem with only 2inches of lift. been chasing it for ages now with all new, steering damper, (replacing the rtc thats was on it) new adjustable panhard, 2 degree offset bushes in the castor arms, new bearings,,,the list goes on.

Gday all , I need to make a new relay rod for my patrol ... its lifted with 4 inch springs
my question is what is the correct length from tie rod centres (or over all length will do)
mine is too bent to measure it correctly so asking for some help here

I have a 4wd systems lokka in front diff and its not nice to drive in 4h as it wants to tourque steer
when power is applied ! great for low range though ...simple and reliable ! no air lines to rip off , no o rings that fail !

ahh yes cheap (read $20 each or so ) we got a quote today for $65 each,
but the fella didnt know what offset we need and ive got no idea as i own a patrol . we were hoping to pick up something at the wreckers as they are only 20 each

i went gu front mate ,you get bigger,better brakes as well as stronger cv,s
and more stability from wider wheel track.

nice work. are u going to put a bit of pipe or similar around the drain bung?
220 seems a bit steep for the kit in my opinion. think i might see what i can make along the same lines..
also do i need to remove centre (with locker) or drop oil to weld it on?? or leave all in??

you will find it very hard to get 35s engineered unless you upgrade to a front gu diff so you have bigger brakes to pass braking test
and even then it wont be easy !
fix the brake proportioning valve bracket too !
prices from 900-1500 depends who you use

has anybody else put spacers in and if so does the spring sit on an angle
now ?? how does it drive ?? im at the stage either pull it all apart again and remove spacers , or .......put it together as is and see how it drives
i guess . it still got me thinking WHY is it so far forward ?

after looking at a mates with custom arms the spring is also on roughly the same angle and drives ok too but im still sceptical at this stage

no mate more or less they are towards the bottom they were pressed in as per the diagram/template and are the same as my others and the ones we pressed out !

well if its to far forward cant you just get the gq arms and try them.
or give somebody like mick at superior a ring or even shane at suspension stuff and ask em. they will be able to give a straight out answer.
but im also under the impression they are both the same. they are definately standard ...

ok the wreckers gave me a gq steer box then, i would appreciate some comments regarding the diff sitting fwd like it is i kind of like the increase in approach angle and guard clearance but im thinking its too far forward
and the spring is gunna want to bind up or pop out ! what do ya all think ...
