Re: Calling owners of V8-converted landcruisers

Went to have a look at progress on the cruiser yesterday, with motor and gearbox bolted together and lifted up, whole lot needed moving forward, so much so that the gearbox has maxed as far forward it can go in the shifter openings and yet the firewall still needed massaging. Gonna be done sometime ...

Went great sounded mean, and had a sort of a whistle coming from one of the pulleys it sounded blown lol. I dont want no race car, mainly power to turn bigger tyres ...

Re: Calling owners of V8-converted landcruisers

Sweet as mate very nice work. Forgive me if i missed it, but what did you do with your p/s lines and all your heater plumbing (and a/c lines if you have it).
Also how much work was involved in moving the gearbox forward 80mm?

Calling owners of V8-converted landcruisers

Hi all, I am embarking on a V8 conversion for my 60 series landcruiser, i purchased a conversion kit from Dellow, and after looking at the original and new bellhousing looks like one of the rocker covers of the V8 will foul on the firewall, ie, it will sit a touch too far back. For people who have ...

Re: hilux vs navara

Anyone here sat in the back seat of the current shape Navara? It has to be the smallest rear seat of any dual cab ute on the market at the moment...I was shocked at how small it is. That being said, the drivers seat/position was the most comfortable out of all of them. still wouldnt get a navara ...

LOL. I'm a sparky who works with my old man and our 2 work cars are new V6 Hilux's. All our work cars in the past have been Toyotas and have no intention of changing. We have had a very very good run with them and dont have to touch them apart from general maintenance. When we were buying we first ...

I havent got up to buying a clutch for mine yet, but a mate had a Exedy H/D clutch in his 2.8 D Hilux and loved it, didnt slip at all and was pretty cheap. I havent heard anything about their Safari clutches for 4wd's but would be interested to hear.

There was no mention that cost was to be taken into account, so i vote 200 series Landcruiser. Something like 680mm of wheel travel and that crawl control system and KDSS AND V8! I'd have one in a heartbeat!

Yeah its easy to have a bent crank, my Valiant had a bent crank. It was only 7-thou out but enough for it not to be straight. I doubt that would slow your car down every time you put your foot down.
As the others said i would be looking at basics first, fuel spark and timing.
