Low compression rate shocks -Hilux d/cab - Parabolic springs
Hiya All, The shocks (EFS) I have at the moment over the parabolic springs are far too hard on compression and do not allow the springs to compress properly. Does anyone have a recommendation on a shock with a low compresssion rate, but normal rebound rate? I figure this may help to soften the ride ...

Thanks. Is there any special procedure for getting the old one off, that is, do I need to jack the truck up or just undo where it sits? It has been lifted (parabolics - about 2-3 inches), so do I just remove the old one, let the car sit on the springs then adjust the new one to the correct length ...

OK, best rear springs for Hilux d/cab?
Hi All, Some of you will remember that a while ago I fitted Fireflex Parabolics to my 95' Hilux d/cab. The front is great, but the rear, is waaaaaaaay to harsh when unladen. In fact, it becomes quite unsafe when off road as instead of soaking up the bumps, it just moves the truck. Bad. Can anyone ...

I just spoke to a guy at Carrols Springs (my parabolics are Fireflex) and he said there should not be a problem with strength if the helper is removed. He thinks that the only problems would be 1. loss in ride height and 2. Loss of load carrying ability. He also said that if done right, spacers can ...

Do you mean a track bar for the rear diff is required if running softer springs? Anyone got any suggestions for "the perfect" ride set-up? I thought the parabolics would be just about perfect, but...................... boing....boing...... If a track bar was installed on the rear, could the helper ...

Better ride: Lux Dual Cab..... Front coil conversion?
Hi All, I would really like to obtain a better, more comfortable ride in my solid axle lux (95')....... after riding in an 80 series Land cruiser with solid axles/coils my truck feels like a expensive pogo stick/bucking bronco........... The set-up at the moment is parabolics front and rear with EFS ...

Your ideas sound good, I think I'll go for the clamp on mounts. I am really looking for details (actual plans, measurements etc) of some that someone else has made. This should make the job a little easier. I am a decent welder but always seem to get things a bit wonky went I fab them without clear ...

Plans for sliders, Hilux DCab
Hiya All,
Does anyone have a set of plans for fabricating some sliders from 2.5 inch tube? I would like to make a set for my 95' Dcab Lux for protection and for use as steps.
Thanks and Cheers, any suggestions would be great.

Alloy rims, any difference in Suspension action?
Hiya all, I am tired of looking for a 2nd hand set of nice rims so am biting the bullet and getting a new set.......... I am looking at some steel speedy chromies, but if any one has noticed vast improvements in suspension action when lighter alloys are fitted maybe I'll wait and get alloys (Solid ...

Side steps from X-cab on dual cab? Are they the same length?
Hi All, I have been offered a pair of side steps from a 91 XCab hilux and need to know if they are the correct length to fit on my 95 dual cab hilux. Can anyone confirm if the XCab and Dual cab are the same length from the rear of the front wheel arch to the front of the rear wheel arch? (the steps ...

What causes small amounts of Black smoke? Hilux 2.8d
Hi All, I have noticed that the exhaust emits small amounts of black smoke when under load (you can see it in the rear vision mirror, especially when cars with lights on are behind). The 2.8d has only done around 200,000 so I am thinking that it is not worn enough to cause smoke. Can this be caused ...

Wirrrrring sound - 95 Lux, solid axle.
Hi All, When I reach around 60km per hour a wirring noise kicks in, sounds like it is coming from toward the rear........ It also seems to occur only under load, that is, if I take my foot off the accelerator it goes away and if I drop back down to say 40 kms per hour it goes away............ I am ...
