Thanks for the advice guys. The oil was in great condition, and there wasn't really anything else in there to indicate issues. Regarding diff noise, the whole fourby has been sitting on jack stands for a couple of years, so I'll have to wait till I finish doing it up to see if there's any noise, but ...

Bit of metal in diff

Drained my 88 GQ's front diff last night, and found this stuck to the magnet on the bottom plug: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/2886306462_2fe7282f96.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3142/2885469239_7a34a70a71.jpg Anyone know what it is? (the metal, not my fingers :finger: I'm not hugely ...

I'd be careful trying to lift a shorty on a tight budget... I gave that a go, and the 2" lift (tho it sat at about 3") caused (really) bad driveshaft vibrations, and cos i was (am? ) on a tight budget, I had no money to spend to try to sort it out. Which adds up to having a set of lifted springs ...

Try Jax Tyres :)
The one I bought from (on Tuggerah Straight, Central Coast) wanted $285 each (for 33 MTR's), but I just asked if they could do better than that (I didn't even give prices) and they dropped to $260..
..and like I said before, that was only 1 and a half to 2 months ago..

I paid $260 each for my MTR's (33x12.5x15) about 1.5 months ago.
