TO make it short and sweet. Im budgeting around 12-15k to build a weekend toy. Its either going to be an 85 convertible 4runner or a LWB sierra.
To make a sierra worth my while however i would like to run 33's daily and from what i can tell that requires either Spring over axle conversion or goin ...

Re: Fj cruiser... V8 turbo diesel conversion?? Possible??
Granted the factory v6 has plenty of power, but being a little old school and a little retro as well, would find it hard to go past a V8 if it were possible!
Was just throwing around the idea of the "best all round tourer" concept...
I'd reckon the FJC with the V8 turbo diesel and a solid axle ...

Fj cruiser... V8 turbo diesel conversion?? Possible??
So it seems the only solid axle yotas coming out now are hardcore cruisers that are IMO fugly and a bit too rugged for my liking.
Throwing the idea around... Has anyone looked at or performed a turbo diesel V8 conversion out of the new cruiser into an Fj cruiser?! Would be a beast I'd reckon.

Re: Getting 33's engineered in QLD.
Looks like I'm really stuck for options... In the likely event I can't find someone to pass it at least the trucks clean and usually well presented. Only needs some extender flares just to tuck the wheels in a tad.

Same as any other state... If it sticks outside your guards it's illegal. Depends on your vehicle as to the amount of offset required to do that.

@ loosecannon thanks mate, let us know if you find anything out for me... Otherwise I might just sell the 33's and run 37's instead seeing as it costs the same! ;-)

Re: Getting 33's engineered in QLD.
Yeah thats what Im in the process of finding out. The guy who went over my truck asked me for a mod plate for both body lift and tyres, he didnt specify where these had to be done, however before going ahead with this will double check that with him.

Re: Getting 33's engineered in QLD.
This is the reason I'm looking into getting my tyres legalized. Ive just moved from Nsw to brissy and now have to go over the pits to transfer my rego to qld. Painful process but my truck even with 300 thou on the clock is actually breezing through it other than tyres and body lift. A couple minor ...

Re: Getting 33's engineered in QLD.
In Nsw I hear you can get tyres engineered / certified / mod -plated however you'd like to refer to it the same as you do lift kits, body spacers, engine conversions etc. I have read of vehicles previously certified to run 37's but that may have been some one stretching the truth a little. You ...

Im looking to get my 4runner certified/ mod plated whatever so that i can run 33 inch tyres. Does anyone know where I can or even if I can get this done?! I'm new to QLD just shifted up from Nsw. I've not had this problem before as my previous mechanic was happy to turn a blind eye to it for ...

Not looking for huge gains... Mostly an insurance policy against heat around the back of the heads in the engine. Exhaust needs replacing at present anyways, figured the extra for extractors were worth it while I was at it.

4runner 3VZE V6 3.0L full exhaust system
So my head gaskets finally let go on my trusty 4runner (3VZE V6) , they've been leaking oil for nearly 12 months now (tappet covers as well as head gaskets) and on the weekend the radiater coolant started going from green to brown... SO i've ripped the heads off and sent them off for a machine ...

4runner bending steering idlers.!?!?
My 92 4runner has lately started chewing out idler arms.
It always bends them back toward the chassis and chews out the bushes, which aren't reusable once damaged.
I'm running 33 inch tyres but havent had this issue until recently, I've bent 2 in 2 weeks, the first replaced under warranty but ...
