Disco/Classic rangie Axle compatibilty

G'day, I have a '93 Vogue and recently picked up complete front and rear axle assemblies from a '97 Discovery. I'm led to believe these will have the stronger 24 spline axles? Although some have suggested my '93 will already have the 24spline jobs? I've noticed that the rear diff has a rubber ...

Re: 351 rangie

Well my 351w EFI conversion is going ahead and I've settled on a 4R70w/LT230 combo in the end. The BTR actually worked out worse for clearance anyway. Got a 4R70w from a '97 F-150 and we're making the adapter to the LT230 at the moment. engine dangling in bay for size...The 351 is actually the same ...

Re: 351 rangie

Ok, I picked up an LE95 for $50 the other day. I borrowed an LT230 from a mate(thanks Mike!). http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a73/XR9UTE/Rangie/DSC04361.jpg This box is longer than the AODE and from this view it's still about 50-60mm too far back to the transfer and already it's contacting the side ...

Re: 351 rangie

Ok Lads, Been doing some research. I've discovered that despite what some people have said the ZF HP22 cannot take the torque of a 351 even when beefed up with parts from the HP24 or, more clearly.... it cannot take it for long. Even a HP24 conversion with tough custom parts and electronic control ...

Range Rover seats

Hey guy's, I've noticed my rangie has something broken in the seat base like a piece of metal sticking up slightly in the seat cushion. Most of the time you don't notice it but I wondered if new seats are available for the classic range rover? Btw I bought a factory workshop manual and I have to say ...

Sorry, I thought you mean't the output shaft needed changing which, normally, would go right back inside the trans. Got any pics?

Ok the 230 is to come from a '98 Disco manual. Sorry, are you saying that the output shaft of the auto needs changing or the shaft to the front diff?

I'll answer my own question then....serpentine drive came along in '94.
And(although it's too late for me) get the thing well and truly warm before you test out the transfer box.

Re: BW transfer rebuild cost?

Ok, I'm going to chuck a 2nd hand unit from Beechboro 4x4 in it and then accumulate bits for an LT230 conversion. I believe the later versions are the best?
Thanks everyone.

Thanks Phil,

Yes that's looking like the best option at the mo. rovacraft want $1500 for a 2nd hand one!?! and $2100 for a rebuilt one and they can't tell me what the rebuild consists of!?!
Anyone used an Ashcroft rebuild on here?

That was a full rebuild but I don't think it was fitted. I know of a ZF and LT230 for $400 2nd hand...condition unknown at this point. What does a 230 cost to rebuild....ive already been stung with second hand shit remember. Who would you trust in Perth for this?

BW transfer rebuild cost?

G'day folks, I picked up a '93 Vogue the other day but the transfer is buggered...makes noise when hot and skips a bit round corners....luckily the rest of the car is in really good shape. What's the going rate for a rebuild of one of these in Australia? I was quoted $850 the other day and they ...

Well, it looks like(hopefully) I'm picking up a '93 Vogue this Saturday :D So I'll have a BW to start with. I did some searching and found some info suggesting it's a BW4462?
