motor is all back together. done the valve timing today and that fixed it now she runs good and no smoke :P

had the head off because one of the push rods dropped out and i suspected cracked piston but it was all good. any advice on how to bleed fuel lines properly. i pumped the manual pump until i got it started and tryed cracking a fuel line at the injector to let some air out but diddent help. i think ...

i had the head off my td42 and put it all back together but now it is blowing lots of white smoke and running rough. could this be caused by air in the fuel lines ???

ok so i put the push rod back in put the motor back in and put it all back together started it up and it runs ruff and blows lots of smoke same as before. so i pulled the head off and had a look. all the pistons look good from the top and what i can see of the liners look good aswell the head and ...

i pulled the motor out and started to pull it down and found it had dropped a push rod. i had myself convinced it was one of the pistons but maybe it was just the push rod. the symptoms were- the motor was missing on one cylinder, blowing smoke, knocking, breathing heavy and pushing oil up into the ...

Would be an idea to find out why the piston cracked first - overfuelling (pump injectors, run dry, overheated etc), as 200,000 isnt very far at all for a TD42. Then if you decide on a rebuild, this will ensure you are not putting new parts in which may suffer from the same fate If the bore is ok ...

i had a mk lwb with 35s and i locked front and rear had no problems with the rear but the front end could not handle it first the auto hubs went then the cvs. i would brake a cv nearly every time i went wheeling. one of the only options for the front of the mq is to convert it to a gq front axle ...

i think ill lock the front and if i brake a cv ill replace it with a stronger one. yuri re enforced cv's sound good for $460 each. im probley guna go with a 4wd systems auto lokka $400

i found the problem the linkage was slipping around the shaft going into the transfer case i put a new pin in it and its good to go. thanks for the help

GQ won't engage 4wd

89 gq won't engage 4wd. i can shift down to high4 and low4 but nothing happens the green light on the dash doesnt come on and it wont engage 4wd. the hubs r locked in all the linkages from the stick to the transfer look to be attached and working properly. how can i fix this ???

the fuel gauge on my gq sits well below 0 and wont move even with a full tank. i pulled the sender out and it all looks good. with the sender out i turned the ignition on and moved the sender float up and down but the gauge dident move. is there any way to test the sender with out a multimeter. how ...

i just boght the mav and its got a new master cylinder on it so he may of had the booster apart aswell. the bloke i bought it off never got it on the road so he probly never tested it properly

i have a 89 mav and as i drive all 4 brakes slowly come on untill the wheels lock up if i pull a hose off the brake booster and let the suction out the brakes free up and i can drive again.

i thought wide track would b better for not rolling as easy. y do u think the narrow track is better is it because they can stay out of other peoples deep wheel ruts ??

thanks 4 your help. just worked out it was still in 4wd because the transfer had bind untill i reversed 4 a good 10 to 20m then the steering came good in 2wd but sometimes the hubs still randomly lock so i will get some manual hubs just priced after market hubs $550 from repco does anyone know where ...

i have a mk patrol and i have welded the front diff permanently locked it. i was told it wouldn't affect the steering when the hubs r unlocked but now that i have welded the diff i can hardly steer. i have auto hubs they should unlock when i change back to 2wd but i think they must be staying locked ...
