Dirty Fuel Tank
Yes, thanks for the ideas. The fuel tank empty weighs about 60kg so no throwing in a few nuts and agitating. I have cleaned out as much as possible of the algae formation with the hose. I have purchased a chemical from Repco called Chemtech that is a strong diesel biocide & kills algae. I think the ...

Dirty Fuel Tank
I decided to investigate the cause of the dirt that was appearing in the glass fuel bowl. It only occurred when running the Long Range (175ltr) tank. After removing the tank I found the inlet strainer completely clogged with junk. When I shone a torch in through the inlet hole the bottom of the tank ...

Which Tyres (again)
I am going out into some rocky country hunting in 2 weeks time. As I destroyed a BFG All Terrain last year, I have decided to return to split rims for this trip. What is a robust tyre with decent sidewalls that will fit on the split rims?? Previously I had no problem with the road grippers for ...

Fuel Consumption
Yes, they do use lots of fuel.
One of the guys at work has one and he normally gets 650km to the two tanks. By comparison the diesel with the same fuel capacity gets about 1150. You have alot more power but have to pay for it. Gas conversion??

Corrct, yes I meant to say they only have oil cooling. For my mind I would prefer both. The HZJ105 is my third Landcruiser (after a HJ60 & HJ80) with an aftermarket turbo system & none have given any trouble. All have had water cooling.

I have the HZJ105 and get 1100-1200km to the two tanks. The guy at work who has the same vehicle FZJ105 4.5 petrol gets 650-700km. I think your economy is about right. You could spend alot of money trying to improve the economy and only be dissapointed. Another guy at work says his 4.5 patrol will ...

I know the guy who owns it, it has a 60series chassis with 40 series body work. The biggest problem I found with the 80s dash was removing and refitting the speedo cable. The later ones had an electronic drive off the gearbox. Mine was late 92 and had a cable drive. Not sure what the 93 will have.

The HZJ105 with aftermarket turbo started to miss at 2200rpm the other day pulling up a large hill. It also did not 'feel' as if it was willing to go past the 2200 rpm mark. I have changed the diesel filter and air cleaner to no avail. Can anyone recommend a diesel service company in the Sydney area ...

Remove the road wheels, and then in order to complete the repair as required you need two 8mmx1.25x25mm bolts to remove the rear axles. After loosening the 10mm bolts on the hub flange give the end of the stud a tap to loosen the cone washers. These can be difficult to remove and putting a little ...

Dow 50R. The way I read your reply, is I can use the HDJ80 box, flywheel & clutch/pressure plate assembly. I have the HZJ105 with the usual gearbox issues. Jumping out of 5th gear & juddering clutch. If i replace the clutch, does that stop the juddering. I also have a gearbox and flywheel out of a HDJ80. It looks like it will fit, but are the bellhousing and input splines the same. What about clutch ...

Save all the hassle why not buy a proper machined steel pivot. When I built my carrier they cost $92.00 delivered for two. I have had Toyota diesels for 15yrs (2h & 1HZzz). If you run them dry but are quick enough to push the change over switch they will keep going. Can I have the light wired to come on when I put the vehicle in reverse and also have it wired to work as a camp light with power from the auxilliary battery.
