After much investigation i found that 225/75r16 tyres fit under the guards of a xl7. They should also fit under a GV just as well.
The 75 profile gives me about the same ground height as a 235/70 but the 225 width just clears the bits and pices under the guards.

It must say something about this product that if over the past two days nobody has said a bad thing about it.
I would have expected that if anyone has had a bad experance with these tyres that my question would been like cow shit to a fly.

I am looking to fit a set of cooper tyres to my vehicle. All the BS in the brochure says there the ants pants, even Mike Layland uses them!!

Could any XL7 owners please tell me what brand and size (eg 235/60 16) tyres you are running. Also any problems you my have had.
