Well the verdict is out - It's heaps better!

I changed the box oil and it's noticably smoother, still a little hard to push into 1st on the very odd occassion, but did 1000kms in the weekend and all seems good, still think I add some Nulon and give it a go. Thanks for all your replys.

Thanks for that, does Nulon actually work? I have often wondered about putting it in. Is is a hard task changing oil in the TD42 and do you know the gearbox capacity as I don't have a manual as yet. Thanks.

Hi, I have a 1998 SWB GQ (the last of the shape made here in NZ) it has only 91,000kms on it and I am having difficulty with getting it into first gear once stopped, it goes in but takes a lot more effort than my last few Toyota's? Sometimes you really have to nudge it hard. Are the GQ 5 speeds ...
