The autos are not a worry at all. The later TJ's had the 4 speed auto, earlier ones were a 3 speed.

Should be able to pick up a TJ for well under $20000 now that the JK is out.

2006 D22 suspension questions...

Hi, my wife has just given me permission (in fact she suggested it!!) to change the suspension on my d22 Navara - so some questions.... She wants a slightly softer ride in the rear - it is my work ute, but I don't carry anything heavy - maybe 200 kgs tops. We do use it for holidays towing a camper ...

I owned a 2001 Grand v8 Limited and loved it! Not too bad on fuel I ran PULP and got 11.5 to 12 lt/100km on the highway.
Again,a good service history is the go!

Also check out the CRD if there is one available near you.

Absolutely - I always wire direct from the battery with 6mm wire, with inline fuse.
Then you can feel comfortable using it for all sorts of stuff, not just the GPS

As Krankie says - with good tyres and good driver skill, they are pretty good. Bashplates are essential, especially for the CRD odel that has the oil filter hanging down at the back of the motor. We often find at MJOC driver training that a well driven KJ is very capable, as long as ou consider the ...

I've been running theses for about 8 months on my Cherokee in 31x15 and I am really happy with them.

Quiet on road, even ok on wet bitumen, great in the bush, and wearing better than I expected.

I paid just under $200 fitted.

Yes, very similar.
Speed sensor is on driveshaft (magnets wired on) and pickup is mounted next to where you put the magnets.

Cable attaches to where your accelerator cable hooks up

Yep, have on on my Cherokee. Easy to install, step by step instructions. If you've ever installed a radio or driving lights, shouldn't have a problem.

Mine's an auto, so not sure about the extra clutch swithch on a manual.

So why doesn't the Navara have the same issues - or does it?

Is it because:
1. The Navara is carrying around a heap less weight than the GU, or
2. The Navara isn't intercooled and puts out less power?

Any ideas?

When you consider that you can buy an update XJ for around $6500 plus in original condition, they are a fantastic buy! Solid axles front and rear, heaps of horsepower, convert well to LPG if you want, extremely capable in the bush. I lifted mine a couple of inches to get the 31's on it from my ...

D22 remote unlocking

Hi all, just bought a new Navara D22, which has central locking, but not remote.
Is there an easy way/kit to hook up a remote, or do I need to go thru an aftermarket alarm place?
I have been quoted $275 for a driver door actuator and remote central locking to be fitted - any other options?

Thanks!

Hi all - after some advice. I am looking at twin cab 4wd utes for work, with canopy. Middy - I use a different one for each area I go to - such as scanning in Rooftop maps etc, and I bought Rooftop digital maps for certain areas as well - good value, $20 or something for 5 digital maps already calibrated for Ozi.

I use OziExplorer and Street Pilot, but as far as paper goes, all the Hema maps are in the "Camps Australia Wide 3" book - has all the maps, state by state and almost all chep/free camping areas Oz wide. Great for touing, comes in either spiral bound or hard bound, I got mine from RACV shop.
