What I did was use a Dremel with a thin cut off wheel ( 25mm across and about .6mm thick ). I cut a grove across the inner race just being careful not to go all the way through. Then used a hammer and cold chisel in the grove to split the inner race open, this will make it very easy to slide off ...

I'm currently setting up internal air cooling on my winch. Where the earth is bolted on the motor I made up a bolt with a hole down the centre and tig welded a fitting to accept a air line. Then removed the end plate on the motor drill a hole for another air fitting and run the hose of that through ...

I had the exact same problems with my GU 4.2TD only a week ago. Nissan found that a brush in the starter motor had seized thus it would still crank the engine over, but would draw a fair bit more current thus dropping battery voltage low playing havoc with electronics. They also said with the heat ...

At work today and had a chat with a friend of mine he was telling me that some Landrover gearboxs have the same problem ( his had the same noise as such ). He checked it out with a UK rover mechanic and he was told that there isn't enough preload on the lay shaft bearings in the gearbox. So I will ...

god only knows, i havnt done that much investigating, but i know exactly the noise you are talking about, although I would have described it as a definative knocking sound, prob why i havnt bothered looking for it yet. Im thinking it almost could be gearbox oil related, being when its cold the oil ...

Weird Noise GU TD4.2
I have a weird noise coming from the clutch / gearbox area when its cold. In the mornings when I start the patrol there is a noise sounding like a hammer hitting the bell housing, but when the clutch is pressed its quite. But after the patrol has driven for a few k's no noise also if the whether is ...

I've got a Brawn 9500lb lowmount winch which has been used hard for many years until last weekend when she died.
What happened was huge current draw whilst winching up muddy hill (single line pull). Then stopped. When i tried to wind in or out it would draw large current but no go. +ve wire from ...

Hi guys and gals I'm currently looking at buying the wife a brand new 5 door V6 Grand Vitara auto. I was wondering are there any problems with them and can you get suspension kits for them.
