Re: OK, so what are they really like?
Had a tallish friend take one for a test drive at a Dealership where they sell another brand. The salesman told him "you're too tall, you won't be buying one of these" and sure enough, after the test drive he was incredibly disappointed, as he'd had his heart set on one, but said to me afterwards ...

Re: Removable duel battery set up
I carry an Ark Powerpack with an Optima Yellow Top battery inside.
I keep it charged through either the built in charger in the lid using 240v at home, or run my solar panel into it when I'm camping.
The Optima can be used as either a starting battery, or can be used as a deep cycle.

Re: what chainsaw to buy for camping & 4WD trips
I'm undergoing the exact same questioning.
I'm weighing up between stihl and husqvarna.
At the moment I'm inclined to say,
"Nah, I don't want no other stinking chainsaw" (still remember those ads).
I was reading on a chainsaw thread recently in one of the 4wding forums, a whole thread on chainsaws ...

I have an MN Triton, and my Mate has an RA Rodeo.
His goes everywhere we want to get to. His has a minor lift and some barwork, and it aint no monster truck, but pretty sure it would do most things anyone would want to do with a 4by.
Add some good rubber and ideally eventually some lockers, and they ...

Re: OH MY GOD ... I'm in LOVE ! !
I bought the manual transmission, so it's quick enough off the lights for me, and hit 2nd and she really scoots. Makes my Patrol looks really sluggish.
I have purchased a chip for it as well, but won't consider putting it in until well down the track, or at least until after the 1500km service, and ...

Re: Coloured bulbs behind coloured lenses
I upgraded to LED's and used an Orange LED behind an orange lense as the indicator, and it is a much deeper orange colour, but also a lot dimmer because of it. If I was doing it again I'd go with a white LED globe instead.
But it is certainly still visible and useable.

Re: OH MY GOD ... I'm in LOVE ! !
Barely owned it 24 hours and already found a problem -
The interior light has the usual "off" - "auto" - "on" settings.
In the "auto" it is SUPPOSED to slowly fade to off after you shut the doors. Mine doesn't. It stays on ! !
If I hadn't noticed, I'd have flattened the battery the first night ...

Took delivery today of my 2010 MN GLX-R Triton 4x4 Dual Cab.
MMCS and High-Line canopy.
And I am over the moon. I think I'm going to lose my licence though. This thing is so effortless that you look down and find yourself doing 100km/h all the time, and that's even in the 60 zones. I'm really going ...

Re: looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab
I pick mine up on Tuesday.
I went with the GLX-R and went with the manual because the difference in price was enough to get the canopy.
I am more than likely going to go with either Ironman or Ultimate suspension. I have quotes on both, and have asked around the forums about the Ironman and seen ...

Does anyone know what the penalty is - or where to find the penalty - for disconnecting or blocking an EGR?
Some diesel vehicles are notorious for carbon build up due to our crap diesel, and the EGR system, and people are taking to blocking them off.
I'm not about to do so as I have a 5 year ...

Re: more prone to break cv with lock rite or air locker?
I was under the impression that NO lockers was the most likely to break something because one wheel in the air gets all the power, and spins like buggery, then when it makes contact with the ground again, it stops in an instant, and breaks things.
Would think either locker would be better than none.

Which side do you mount your spread versus spot beam ?
I tried a search, but there is so much spotlight discussion over the years, I wasn't able to weed out if anyone has answered whether there is a preferred side for the spot beam. I am assuming the spread beam it isn't so relevant, but I'm guessing that the side you mount your spot beam could make a ...

I sent mine from Canberra to Sydney for an engine rebuild and it cost me only about $200. So don't be too put off by ones that aren't near you. A recent mag review claimed a battery life of under a couple of hours, in fact only a little over one hour from memory, for the Hema, so not sure I'd go that route, but it does apparently have OziExplorer so that would a plus because when Ozi is setup well, it's quite a good option. But for road nav ...

Adding more panels to a solar system ?
I have an "Eva Kool" 100w folding panel that feeds my Optima Yellow Top (55a/h) in my Ark Powerpack.
I am going to wire an Anderson plug running directly inside the Powerpack to the battery, and feed the solar panel into that.
However, it now appears that I may be buying a much bigger fridge than ...

200w kits for $760
Have prices really come down that much in just a matter of months, or am I missing something here? Because I paid more than that just for a 100w ...
