I tried a search, but there is so much spotlight discussion over the years, I wasn't able to weed out if anyone has answered whether there is a preferred side for the spot beam. I am assuming the spread beam it isn't so relevant, but I'm guessing that the side you mount your spot beam could make a difference.
I am using LF240's with the spread coming from the cover on it, so easily changed.
BTW:
I cleaned up some really old covers that have had a hard life, and when they were wet they looked nice and clear, and when they dried, they were a little "milky" looking. So I hit them with a very thin film of WD40 and now they look nice and clear all the time. No idea if this will ruin them, but with them so milky looking, and so cheap to replace, if it wrecks them I'll just get another set. But thought this tip might be worth sharing if anyone is interested. It seems to have worked for mine.
