Re: picture of my toughdog shock which let go

Why not contact TD direct (Blacktown NSW) and ask them about the failure? They have pretty good after sales service and might sort it out for you. When I had a seized adjuster they checked out all four off the car and fixed for free. Thanks Clanky, I did initially try and find the company details ...

Re: picture of my toughdog shock which let go

I can't help thinking that a well-made shock absorber will lose all resistance before failing like that. Good point. That's a fair guess I'd say. I guess I shouldn't be too harsh on the brand. 6 years bolted to heavy duty springs I suppose. It probably seized up hence the failure. Probably designed ...

Re: picture of my toughdog shock which let go

My oppinion is they are a low cost shock that is way overpriced and over rated but I really wouldn't complain about that failure x2 on both the quality of TD shocks and the can't complain My mechanic is of the same opinion (cheap stuff made in china). He recons it would be a BAD IDEA to weld it ...

picture of my toughdog shock which let go

Well I suppose I can't complain too much after it's done 6 years of service, but I can't help feeling a little disapointed. I'm not that impressed with the construction of the toughdog big bore adjustable. My 89 model leaf-sprung landcruiser has a 2" lift but hasn't seen that much bush bashing ...

want to put another seat in the back of my wagon

Currently I have a 5 seater 1989 model HJ63 Sahara wagon imported from Japan. It has the high roof design.

Basically we want to make it an 8 seater but I have no idea where to start. Who do I talk to? I assume that this will be a custom job.

I'm located on the Gold Coast (easy access to Brisbane).

towing options for my 89 Landcruiser

I have a 1989 landcruiser sahara and I need to tow a caravan with it. I've included some photos of the existing (factory?) setup. I'm wondering if there is some kind of towing solution already available for this kind of setup, or am I going to have to fabricate something (which I assume will needs ...

auto lockers are fine if you dont like to be in controll of your traction aids. I personally drive around everywhere unlocked, and will only use the locker/s when really needed. I appreciate the advice with regards to cost, but I'm with anthony. Without getting into auto/manual lockers debate, I ...

Sounds like you have a point. Based on some rumors, I heard that there was some patent issues. And an exclusive 10 year contract that has been preventing the original designer of the locker from hooking up with another distributer. About 4 months ago I heard this, but as far as I know, it's all hear ...

and once they drop their prices on their airlockers where does the $$ come from to design new and make improvements to their products ?? You could also say that about any other monopoly business. It's a convenient argument to protect any manopoly rates of charge. If Hoyts charges less for movies ...

I happen to ride MTBs as well, but I imagine it would be a lot of extra weight. And then theres the wheel balence as well absorbing kinetic engergy (making you need to pedal harder). They have separate products for lightweight bike tyre options but I dunno. If you're doing a MTB race and you get a ...

Anyone tried this stuff?

I saw it in an ad in A4WDMmag

I wonder if it is any good. Might be worth keeping in the kit for a long trip out back.

You'd think ARB have fully sorted the production run efficiencies for producing their air locker. Why don't they translate their experience and associated efficiency into a noticeable price reduction. It's long overdue and would be sure to make the 6 o clock news. "And lo, a great light broke forth ...

Thanks for the advice guys. My wallet is in no hurry so I don't mind waiting for next year if they have supply issues for the 60 series. Particularly if it is the same money for a better unit. I've checked out the JacMac locker via email corresponance a long time ago and he reckoned there was ...

This thread is quite old now. Does anyone know anyone who actually has one of these TJM lockers? I saw an ad for them in the December 2005 4WD monthly magazine which refered me to the website to get more info. Yet the website has no trace of the product. Whs got more info on these buggers? I want to ...

I hearn a vague roumor about some 10 year contract that someone (JacMac?) had with ARB - which has now come to an end. And this is the reason why we are seing something come onto the market by another big label.

Does anyone know anything about this?

need good info on steering setups/options

I've got a HJ61 Sahara with about 3 inches of lift running 32" tyres and a toughdog steering dampner. The suspension is 2-stage heavy duty springs with toughdog "Big Bore" shockies all round. ATM, the sway bar is still fitted to the front to help improve the situation on-road. I'm probably gonna ...

AFAIK all 24v vehicle systems use two 12v batteries in series to get 24v? You could purchase four Optima style batteries perhaps and fit two each into each of your existing holders? Big $$$ though! hmmm, so maybe two red-tops and two yellow-tops. it looks like I'll need four batteries anyway, but ...

24v dual battery solution for my 60

Hi there, I'm packing a 1989 Toyota Landcruiser HJ61 which I imported from Japan. It came wired up with 24v using 2x 12v batteries in series. I would like to know if you can get good quality 24v batteries which would occupy the same space as a regular 12v battery. Then it would presumably be simple ...
