315x75x16 on 79 Series ute, what mods needed

HI all, Can I fit 315x75x16 mud tyres on a 79 series ute, I have 105 series steel rims. Not sure what mods I need to do to get them to fit e.g. 2" suspension lift and/or body life etc. ? Any clues.

Cheers Wally

Re: HDJ79R Engine surges while coasting. Is this Normal ?

Got it sorted out at Turbo Engineering in Thomastown, had a diagnostics check ($260) there were a number of issues they sorted out for me. While it was there I had it chipped. It goes very hard indeed, I have since added a 3" straight through exhaust. I didn't realise these things hammer with chip ...

Re: 79 series issues help

I have recently purchased a 79 series factory turbo diesel, I had a few issues also as in it was running at 50% power, 68Kw at the wheels. I've since had a tune, chip and 3" exhaust fitted, it's now 131kw at the wheels and 695 NM torque according to the rolling dyno. Assuming yours is also a factory ...

Re: HDJ79R Engine surges while coasting. Is this Normal ?

No good still has the slight surge. I checked for oil in the intake pipes there was only a tiny film inside. Could it be the throttle sensor?

Re: HDJ79R Engine surges while coasting. Is this Normal ?

Had a look around the engine bay yesterday afternoon. I found 2 very lose nuts on the intake manifold at the front of the motor. Also on the intake crossover pipe theres a vaccuum module the small rubber hose was lose, Ive done up the nuts and pushed the hose on further. I'm giving it a run today to ...

Re: HDJ79R Engine surges while coasting. Is this Normal ?

Hmm Thanks for that. The surge is ever so gental you hear it more than feeling it. It's hard to describe the rise and fall in RPM is about 100-200 RPM so not alot. Doe it in all gears when just resting your foot in the same spot and on a flat surface. When you accelerate it disappears.

HDJ79R Engine surges while coasting. Is this Normal ?

Hi Guys, Just picked up a HDJ79R tray (factory turbo) 190,000kms completely stock. I noticed driving home last night when I hold my foot in a constant position, at any speed I get a surging feel, kind of like cruise control cutting in and out but it happens every few seconds. I don't have cruise ...

I must admit I'd like to have a V8 just for the sound alone. But a TD with 3" exhaust does sound good too. If fuel cost wasn't such an issue then the V8 would be the go. Fuel prices this morning near me are now at $1.38 per litre for ULP

Cheers Wal.

Potential Disco 2 owner

Hi All, Have been looking at Disco2's for a while I really like the look and the size of them. I have a few questions one (or many gurus) might be able to answer. I recently test drove a 2004 V8 HSE (30,000kms on the clock) expecting it to be the bees knees, my first impression when I got into the ...

Good job garssyknoll, Where's the pix?

I was thinking of going factory hubs, but AVM is not out of the question. Any reason you chose AVM over the factory type? I'm undecided which way to go.

No probs grassynoll, I'm glad we are both finding out what we need to know.

Do you have a set of FWHs already?

I had a quick look at removing mine, the cone washers are the hard bit to remove. I loosened all the nuts then tapped the hub with a soft-face hammer and it popped free.

Thanks for the info and the link guys. I removed the auto hub and end cap to see what's inside. On the end of the axle there is a bolt and flat washer 12mm bolt head. I have no idea what it does. I tightend the wheels bearings just a touch as they were loose. Looks like an easy job, as long as I can ...

100% sure. Had a mechanic drive it today after adjusting the tappets. He said it could be OK for years or it could just give up. He was going to find out the cost of parts and get back to me.
