315x75x16 on 79 Series ute, what mods needed

Post by wal4x4 »

HI all, Can I fit 315x75x16 mud tyres on a 79 series ute, I have 105 series steel rims. Not sure what mods I need to do to get them to fit e.g. 2" suspension lift and/or body life etc. ? Any clues.

Cheers Wally

A mate is running 35x12.5R16 creepies on 16x10s with a 3" suspension lift. Just did some minor trimming of the front mud flaps, but other than that, no rubbing.

Best pic I have of it.

He's running the " 3" Superior Tough Dog Stage 3 " off this link.

Quote from him "Only really need to trim the inside of mud flap for half to full lock turns with the 35s."

Offset on the 16x10's was the largest he could get.

I'll get some pics ,
A mate with same 79 and same lift and size tyres but the rims are custom 16x10 with a dirty offset and because the wheels hang out so far it makes when turning the tyres foul on the lower of the fender( near the bit were the mudlfap would go) a bit when off road ,
Need to push the front diff forward to make big offset rims work good .
The yota rims are great for 315s
Most people think mine are 285s untill they read the tyre size.
When I dropt the ute of for new treads a while ago they rang me back and said am I sure want that size , YES was my answer , picked the ute up and they said how surprised they are at how good the 315s fit the 79 cruiser
