Hi
Can anyone tell me if the 80 Series Landruiser chrome/steel rims (15x7) will fit onto my stock 1990 4 door 4Runner with front independant suspension? At the moment I have the 16x6 chrome rims.
Thanks

I know this is an old story, but I've made some progress. I'm now running a completely different hose to the vacuum diaphragm and the secondary seems to open. Car has a lot more pickup too. Anyone know what that little long device that screws into the intake manifold is? It's got to little nipples ...

Carby Question for 1.3l
For those of you who are familiar with the 1.3l stock carbie, at the back left there is a diaphragm which when vacuum is applied to it it opens the secondary throttle valve. Now at the moment I am running on just the one barrel and the cars feeling sluggish. The diaphragm does work but the hose ...

The problem has gone away and I'll explain what I did if for no other reason than amusement, or to confuse you. I thought to myself, if the problem started by taking off really quickly, I got the idea to take off really quickly in reverse. I did that, did a little chirpie. I heard what sounded like ...

okay, reved it to about 4 grand before dropping it. Not very high, but had it under a bit of load at the takeoff point. And it's weird cause it's sounded like something slipped or let go under the heavy load. I put a clutch kit in it, replaced the throwout bearing as well. Would it make sense for it ...

Anyone know what the hell this is?
I was driving somewhere today, I'm stopped behind traffic, went to drop the clutch and take off quick and I heard a loud high pitched squeal. The squeal continued as I drove, the pitch matching the engine revs. Firstly I thought it was a belt that maybe let go or loosened or something, but then I ...

all 1.3 sierra boxes have syncros, the nosie from ur clutch pedal is ur thrust bearing, while its apart put a new 1 in there, I'm not too sure what to think about that mate cause this is after putting a clutch kit into it which comes with the bearing. The thrust bearing is the one that pushes out ...

Quick gearbox question.
Just wondering, is there any way of telling the condition of a gearbox while out of the car. I just swapped over my gearbox cause I thought it was better than my one, and now it's crunching 1st and 3rd. My dad said that should be the synchros. I wanna put the old one back in but I don't know whether ...

Re: Are all sierras this way?
you are in melbourne, therefore you have mud and dust in your carby. strip it down and clean it out. blow out your lines with compressed are as well. that's all it is.[/quote] Nah, see normally I'd agree with you, but I before putting in the new engine thats exactly what I did with the carbie ...

Wow!, 3 posts in a row, thats really something. You reckon I can download it? Do you know from where? I'd probably rather spend the time downloading it cause money is a factor. I'm tight. Also does anyone know what the choke adjustment is? Is is just bending that little rod to shorten it? Carbies ...

Are all sierras this way?
So far I've owned two Sierra's, they've both had what looks to me like vacuum leaks, at least they're what the symptoms are. Basically at idle, it oscillates up and down, maybe at a 100 rpm margin, constantly and unpredictably (without a pattern). The reason it's a problem now is that I've put a new ...
Yes you can reverse the wheels and you can also drive blindfolded. They won't be sitting flush against the drum/disc as far as I can tell. If you look at your wheels when there on normally, especially around the holes, check to see if they're flat, they most likely won't be, in which case you can ...

Carby rebuilding
At the moment I got the carbie off my parts car off, I'm just pulling it apart and trying to learn what everything does. Does anyone know where I can get a book which explains the these carbies in detail, as opposed to the simple "remove carburettor" instruction in the Sierra workshop manuals.

Just a little piece of information which I found out recently, and I find quite disturbing. In victoria, you can't go a tyre any wider than 15mm more than what the original tyre was, and can't increase the width of the rim by more than an inch. I'm out in both ways, I hear it's illegal to scratch ...

Nah nah nah, what your experiencing is pretty normal to an extent, thats the effect of one side of your diff bouncing up and down due to the torque reaction. I've noticed it happensl more in reverse. Think about, torque reaction pushes one side of the diff downwards, it tends to bounce up slightly ...
