Painting your 4x4...
Did this a while ago, but just thought I'd post up my thoughts as it took me ages to work up the courage to have a crack, cause most of what I read online seemed to say how hard it is. It was quite easy in the end, for how much better it looks. 3 coats of 2pac. Took 2 days to sand and a day to spray ...

Cruiser diffs
Tried the cruiser bible couldn't find it, but what models if any are interchangeable with 60 series?
Are diesel and petty diffs the same? Trying to hunt down a rear center for my diesel 60 and wondering if the 75 series or others used the same diff.

Maxxis bighorns. I've got em and I love em. Sumitomo I think do an even cheaper copy, of the buckshot at least, mate ran em on his ute and they where ok but I'd still pay the extra for maxxis.

Glow plugs aren't glowing
On a 60 series 2H.
Checked the fuse.
Is there a control box or regulator or something I should check?
The plugs themselves are less than 2 years old, and they aren't getting power anyway so they're not the issue.

Re: Project Car Wanted!
You could find a project 40 for 1k. But it'd work out cheaper in the long run to buy one that actually goes I would think.
But you should just buy a 60 and get all the things your going to want to add to your 40 as standard

If your getting a Tigerz11 winch, wait a week or so. I rand up the warehouse earlier this month, and they reckon they are going direct to the public 1st of March, so should be a fair bit cheaper

Hmm not really what I wanted to hear. Anyone want to steer me in the right direction on how/where to brace it? Cool thanks.
They're meant to be hight-tensile bolts aye? I'm thinking of pulling the bar off first and painting it, so might just replace the bolts while I'm at it, I'm sure to strip at least one thread anyways.

Fitting a winch...
Ok so this is probably a really stupid question, but I have a winch bar, I presume, cause it has a hole cut out at the front and mounting points for the winch. Is installing one as simple as bolting it to the bar and wiring it up? Or do you need to brace it to the chassis somehow aswell?? Been ...

Re: Best all round suspension for a 60
My reasoning is, I have 33"s at the moment, with saggy stock suspension, and only 1" shackles in the rear. Only get a bit of scrubbing at the rear with flexing. So I'm thinking 3" should clear it. But it's not a definate plan anyway more a case of if I'm fitting lifted springs anyways, i'd like 35"s ...

Thanks for the replies. I was kinda hoping to get a couple, definative, "get this brand they are awesome" kinda replies  Sounds like they are all pretty decent at least? 3" springs sounds good, I'm just paranoid about them inverting again but I guess that won't happen with aftermarket springs ...

Best all round suspension for a 60
Basically copying the 80 series thread :D I'm sick of my 60 just sitting around and not doing anything to it, I want to start making it better off and on road and I think I best start with the suspension. I've got 1" anti-inversion shackles at the moment, but the springs and shocks are pretty much ...

Re: Identifying a Toyota diesel motor in FJ40
Nah. They didn't bring out a 4.2 diesel till 70 series.
If it's the original engine, it's more than likely a H. Unless its a 47 not a 40?

might want to wait for someone else to confirm, but I would guess that as it starts with H, it's a "H" engine. 3.6L I think?
