Re: Centre bearing for buggy

Yeah they are the ones I was talking about Milo. In my view to break a PB my first thoughts as to why wouldn't be weakness of bearing but more towards setup. You can buy cheap PB's too which is why I said SKF & they come in different ratings to suit their application. 1 PB isn't the same as the next ...

Re: Centre bearing for buggy

Most just use cast housing although in the hi end KOH Buggies I have seen custom billet blocks made.
But in saying that I have never heard a failure due to cast pillow blocks

Re: Centre bearing for buggy

Just go to any bearing shop & use a SKF Pillow Block Bearing. Widely commonly used as a support bearing for 2 piece front driveshaft assemblies.

Re: Tuff Truck 2014 :-)

I'm with Johnsey (first time for everything). Myself being one of the scrutineers & knowing Pip & Tim well, I got the heads up from Pip that he was going to use the rules to his advantage. He had a crapload if paperwork for me when he rocked up & like he said to me, don't look for 51% or 81% because ...

Re: Converting Dana 60 Passenger drop to Driver drop

I got Currie RockJock housing cut & shut passenger to drivers on a Winch Lux. Can't remember cost but it wasn't much change out of $1k by a Drag Racing builder. Long side was cut to suit short & opposite knuckle was machined off & slipped on & welded. Opposite had knuckle welded into new tube & put ...

I'd stick with Hipinion passenger drop & change Xfer. Simplest & cheapest option

Re: RUMBLE ON THE ROCKS to be or not to be

Depending on tracks you could maybe have a bypass track around difficult sections for different class.
So at least you keep the crowds in the one area rather than separate tracks altogether.

Re: 'modular' roll cage for a 40

I'm not sure as my mod plate with various codes is still being held by engineer until I finish doing all the codes. Twisty may know as he has all the same codes as I do. Repercussions on having A pillar fitted onroad, again I don't know but if in an accident I prefer to know I'm 100% legal which is ...

Just do B-C pillars, you will achieve a good sound & safe cage as long as you approach it correctly & will be safe. I can help you with layout Andy.

Re: Diff widths

Creek runs aren't always highway width, to base a series on another country like Aust4 & our Ultra4 are doing is great. But to think that we are going to run events with same terrain as in USA is naive to say the least. We can only do the best with what we have available. That is just the way it was ...

Re: Diff widths

Basically I have the same idea with my approach. I will be running 64-66" WMS with front being 1-2" wider so fr 66"- rear 64" based on a 110" WB. I will be running as +'ve offset as possible to be overall track width no wider than 2100mm.

Re: basic coilover setup.

Thanks for starting this Matt. A couple of questions that might be of value to the discussion - 1. Should the coils be long enough that they are still in slight compression at full extension? 2. What are your thoughts on split rate coils vs two coils of the same rate o the shock? 3. For those of us ...
