Re: Finding my old Patrol
Maybe give us a name/place/date you sold it too... I've wheeled in the last 5 years with probably 5 cars similar to that.... could have been any one of them further modded or painted. One on the weekend even..... but the cab (which was cut quite a few years ago) was only recently put on a GQ wagon ...

Re: 2000 3.0 GU Patrol Engine options
Yes you could install a 4.2, but you will have a lot of trouble getting the auto to work. If you can at all. You'd need the complete 4.2 loom, radiator/shroud, plus weld in new engine mounts (they are different)..... 4.2s were never offered here with an auto (or anywhere else?) and youll end up with ...

So the cracks are actually on the pumpkin, where the axle tube is pressed in?
Seems a strange place.
Personally, Id think finding another bare housing may be a better option.
But you could get it welded and braced to stop it reoccurring.

A little bit baffled by what's up with my 5L hilux motor. It's been running a turbo for around 5 years with no dramas. This year I've noticed that the rocker cover vent hose has been venting a hazy oily smoke that wasn't there previously. The gas seems to pulse out of the vent hose at around 1 ...

Cant comment on those other than buy cheap buy twice is a moniker Id stand by. They do seem cheap. And shiney, if thats of any use. ;) On my old GU I used the red AVM's when the standard auto lockers crapped out. On 35's with front ARB locker I had zero issues with them. The new GU (also on 35's) i ...

Mate turn the ignition key from off to ign 3-4 times, a code should come up on the odo. Google the code or report back here. Otherwise, take it to a jeep specialist like Hammonds at Capalaba or Murchison offroad. The xjs run a teabag filter on the tank pick up prone to blocking, but the issue sounds ...

Bru I ran the ARB twin motor unit in the TJ running 37"s, was really good. Aired up all 4 quite quickly. Plus it was relatively compact for its output, and it's rebuildable as its basically two of their normal compressors bolted together. Parts are readily available. Whilst I never tested it, it's ...

I know of a N/A engine with 250,000 that then had a big turbo and pump work etc fitted, and still went fine. 190rwkw, was still going strong 100,000 later. General rule of thumb, double the power, halve the life. That said, stock they are ...

If it's from a quadratrack wagon, the front diff pumpkin will be on the right. TJ has the front pumpkin on the left. You could get a front D44 from a NP208 ( ie non quad die) wagon, but the pumpkin is way to the left, making it a bitch to find the room to mount a coil spring perch, shock mount ...
