Thanks for that. Got the unit out in the end, but not without a fair amount of work. You were right - she was a real b@$tard to loosen.

Replacing Cigarette Lighter on F-300 (Rocky)

Hi there,

I'm having a hell of a time trying to remove the cigarette lighter housing on my F-300. I can get my hands arounf the back and have disconnected the two wires, but I'm unsure of how the unit is meant to be extracted.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

occastional short when starting Daihatsu F-300

Hi there, A couple of times a week when I start my rocky there appears to be a short across my battery. There is a spark and small puff of smoke on the +ve terminal of my battery and my clock will reset itself to 1:00. Usually on the 2nd attempt to start, the engine will turn as usual. I've checked ...

Mitsi towbar on an F-300?

Hello, I've noticed that a few Pajeros round town have towbars that just bolt on to the "U" shackel plate (I'm making this name up as I don't know what it's actually called - but it's the place where the U shaped towing loop is bolted to the plate at the back of the vehicle). Does anyone know if the ...

Shrouding (AKA cowling) not required for my f300

Hi ya, Just to follow up on my post from a few weeks ago. I've found out that the radiator cowling is not required for my Rocky. The overheating problems were resolved by... * Removing the radiator and washing off a fairly solid layer of mud. * Replacing a faulty radiator cap. I took it for a ...

Thanks for that.

I disconnected one of the connectors and ran it to earth. Works perfectly now (except it's a little out of calibration - reads 12 volts as 9).

Thanks again.

Installing a voltometer on Daihatsu F-300 (rocky)

My Daihatsu F-300 did not come with the clock/inclometer/voltometer unit, so I bought one from a wrecker. The clock and inclineometer are working fine, but the voltmeter refuses to work (although the light does come on) Looking through the forums, I see someone else had the same problem last year ...

Thanks for your input.

Seems opinion is a little devided on whether I need the shroud or not.

Only one way to find out - I'll install a replacement part and see if my problems go away.

Will let you know the result.

Cheers again

Radiator cowling - is it necessary?

A few months ago, I went a little mud crazy and managed to get pretty much everything covered in in a fine layer of mud (broke the altinator - but thats a different story). Somehow, while playing in bog, I sucked a peice of wood into the cooling fan area. This bit of wood broke into several small ...

Thanks for that. I just hope I don't get any punctures. The oil cap problem still worries me. I don't know how long I was running with no cap. There was a fair amount of oil on the under side of the hood, althouh the oil levels were OK. Oh well, I'm due for an oil change soon anyway. Guess I'll just ...

tyre question and engine cap question

I've splashed out and bought a 2nd hand set of 4 235/70 Hankook tyres to replace my 195/75's. Am I OK to use my 195 as a spare, or would it damage the transmission if I ran it along side the 235's? Also, I went to top up the water for my wipers this morning, and noticed the engine cap (where you put ...

Tyre options for stock '93 Rocky

Hi there,

I'm currently running a stock '93 Rocky with 195r15's in an AT tread but am wanting to upgrade.

Any ideas on what tyre sizes I can fit that will not require suspension work?

Thanks
