Replacing Cigarette Lighter on F-300 (Rocky)

Post by camfairweather »

Hi there,

I'm having a hell of a time trying to remove the cigarette lighter housing on my F-300. I can get my hands arounf the back and have disconnected the two wires, but I'm unsure of how the unit is meant to be extracted.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Most of those cigarette lighters are held in with a large socket nut type configuration. Remove the ash tray assembly. It should be held in with 2 screws that are above the draw part of the ash tray, eg look up through the tray opening after removing the tray. This should give you access to behind the lighter. Now, stick your finger into the front of the lighter hole, and grab the lighter assembly behind the dash panel, and unscrew. Sometimes they are a bugger to loosen.

Thanks for that. Got the unit out in the end, but not without a fair amount of work. You were right - she was a real b@$tard to loosen.
