also remember there are a couple configurations.

NT inc tach
NT no tach
WT with tach (dont think we got WT without tach)

I'll be looking for one for 31,3.9s for a WT

Nic
Aha, good point, how differnt are the NT and WT's dashes? Are they really that different. I was aware that there was the old style dashes, and the new style. I suppose 1996 crossover.

If you take the bottom steering column cover off, get down in the foot well and look up, there are two bolts securing the steering column up to the framework. Undo those two bolts and the steering column will drop down enough for you to get the top cover off the steering column, as well as being able to remove the dash cluster pretty easily. Just don't forget to do all the bolts and screws up again. I found this out while replacing my universal (blinkers and wipers) switch.

^^ added you boys to the list :)

Ok I took some screen shots of what I had up on the screen, and I just found a button that would have saved me yonks on it, a button that would trace it for me. Anyway, you can see the guages that im doing first at http://www.r6design.net/personal/guages.gif If you wish to tell me what kind these are, please doo, if there not your one, if you could find/scan in some gages that I can trace there shouldnt be any problems.

BTW no graphics or designs have been done yet, these are purely the vectors for the laser cutter, the other option is to get these printed onto matt stickers, not sure which one is best yet! ill let ya all no!

edit// Nicbeer, making it isnt the problem, but if they are been screen printed it becomes costly doing differnt kinds (you basicly pay for the stencil) BUT if we end up printing them, I dont see the issue!

did some ebaying

http://members.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI ... in_central

does white face kits. i emailed hime and got an answer. Bout 70 for a kit.

""Hey there,
Sorry we dont have anything for either of these models. We willl send you an email if a cluster crosses our path, as we need the cluster to create the first set of templates. Unless your able to send us your cluster maybe, we would create the templates, install them and send them back to you. For the set of templates and installation it is usually valued at $110.00 but we would do this for you for half price as you are helping us with a new item.
Have a think about it and get back to us.""

They look very cool, and would save me alot of time, but doubt he will make them for differnt sized wheels, and $110 is fairly steep. I have been wacked with work over the past two weeks and havnt been able to work on my own designs, however if you guys go with these, then I will too.

Give me another week and ill try and get some mock ups done.

How about an 'open source' approach where you create a template and people can modify or change up themselves when they have them printed.

The maths would be painful for the different setups on here...maybe someone with a Navman or similar could work out there true speed vs speedo and that applies to 31s 32s and so on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I took apart and scanned my speedo & tach guages in a little while ago and inverted the colours to make them white .. I think they look quite good! now to adjust the readings to match my tyres and get them printed!

The temp and fuel guages were left on the mechanisms when I did the scan but should still be suitable as a template.

Not sure how you are trying to print them out, but if you tell your program to print them at the original DPI (or original picture size) they come out fine.

You will need to make sure your looking at the full picture from the gallery tho!

What are they being printed on?
I have a WT dash with a vitara speedo head behind the cluster (that way the speed sensor is still hooked up to the engine computer as i am running a 1600 MPI)
What I had to do was scan a Vitara speedo face and I printed it out on paper (which produced a matt finish) and fit it over the Sierra cluster then I had the speedo calibrated and its all perfect :D
EXCEPT  (hence my question) Now at night the dash lights dont light up the numbers as the light doesn't come through the paper and its hard to see.

White faced instruments.

Post by want33s »

How are the new faces going? I have ordered a set of 6.5:1 transfer gears that have 20% high range reduction. I am going to 33" tyres soon. I'll probably end up under stock in high range(by 1-3%) low range should be unreal. I still want white faces but not sure if stock will work or I need them recalibrated.
