Metallic Sticker Removal

Anyone know how to remove a metallic sticker/decal? - see pic.

I normally get vinyl ones off with a hairdryer but these won't budge. It's like they have a couple of layers.

I havent removed that type before, but ive found with other stubborn bastard stickers you can keep wiping at em with somethin like a wax/grease remover, it gets into the edges and eventually you can start picken away at edges.

go to ur nearest air tool shop any buy 1 of those rubber wheels they remove all kinds of stickers and u can use it in a drill and not worry about damaging ur paint.

They use these at panel beaters, I didn't have such luck when I borrowed one. Maybe I didn't cut the paint back enough after but it always had rubbery marks where the striping previously was.

Sand it and respray. Even if you manage to get it off there will probably be some form of outline.

heat gun is the go, dont use a razor blade garantee you will scratch/score the paint. And clean with prepsol (wax and grease remover). You may have a slight colour distortion, if this anoys you just get it cut backed and buffed.

should not be overly hard to remove, just take your time as so not to damage the paint work i.e get the boyz doin nothin at your work to do it for you (brendon)

Time to leave them there and paint same color as car
Get stainless fishing line, catch flat under one edge and saw away parallel to sticker.

We had a BA ute with that sort of signwrittin on it, was a trade in. after i spent bout 5 hours removing the normal stickers on the side and back we sent it to the panel beaters and they got that rubber wheel on it, then a cut n a buff and it looks like new.

You really need to know what type of car it is to get the correct answer. Different paints & stickers require different ways of removal.

DON'T USE RUBBER WHEELS If you use them on acrylic or certain holden paints you will go straight back to primer. We don't even let the panelbeaters at work use these, it paint shop only.

The best way to remove these type of stickers is a heatgun on a little area at a time until the sticker starts to get soft then slowly peel it off. Once the sticker is of then use wax & grease remover to remove the sticker residue.

If the sticker has been on the car for more then 5 years there is a good chance that no matter how much you buff it you will still see the where the sticker was.

It's funny you should mention that because we had one come in to work today. I was staring at this sticker for 5minutes when I finally worked out where i'd seen that sticker before.

It's the first time i'd seen a Sukuki X90 before.

I hate these stickers with a serious vengance, and If i ever find the moron who designed the stickers on my pajero i'm going to jam his head through the loop on my snatch strap and drag him to alice springs...

Anyway most of them have come off the sides with alot of persuasion, however the stickers on the rear quarters are kind of brittle now and wont peel. Have tried taking to them with a heat gun, and it's still a pain in the ass. By the way it took my girlfriend and myself about three hours work to get the stickers off the sides. Just using fingernails and a little plastic scraper thingy.

ATM i have really ratty looking partially picked at stickers on the back of my car... yay. That's after spending about 2-3 hours trying to remove those parts.

Solution... buy a real 4WD that doesn't feature 'Metallic Decals' as a major accessory from the factory!!!

Taken plenty of stickers off vehicles over the years
