coil lift.

hey all im thinking of lifting the spook some more and came up with an idea(still thinking of buying a kit from bigballs)my coily sierra runs the shocks and springs together as a unit in the front.i have 2"king coils.if i were to seperate these and put the 2"raised coils under the chassis and run the shocks in the normal position to give more lift what would be the goods or bads?

Seriously, you will just increase the static ride, yet retain the same amount of extended travel length.

not exactly sure what you're talking about? you want to move the springs inboard? not a super idea, will be detrimental to stability and handling, plus you'll have to fabricate/move your spring perches. too much work for uncertain gain and potentially deadly handling.

I misunderstood. I thought you were keeping the shock and coil as a unit, like a strut.

nope.thats how it is now.i wanted to move the coil under the chassis to achive lift,keeping the shock in the standard position.it is the front im having trouble with.

Ive seen the shock moved on a coily b4 .........This guy ran 5 link front and rear (until it was stolen) the front coils ran in the original spot with the lower coil seat welded in place the shock was ran in a similiar position to a leafy (i think........) ......he just had to fool around with coil windings and shite cause of the length of the front coils ........but this setup worked very F-----in well :twisted:

If you moved the shock outside the spring it would have to help you somehow with articulation,as the spring would bend around you wouldnt have to worry about it hitting the shock-depending on how far it articulates.I have seen some of the shocks from this settup at work scratched and even bent because of the spring.

yep i had the front shocks scratched up from the spring.

I would run thespring in the standard spot , obviously have to make a seat for it. Then mount the shock to the rear of the spring but flip the way the shock mounts 90 degrees as with the standard setup the shock bush binds up quite early.
