surf fuel tank

Post by hobpedlar »

Here's a poser.
On the 94' Surf I have seen a swing away wheel carrier as standard.
Now that there is no spare wheel up it,s butt what is there?
Have they installed a bigger fuel tank or an auxiliary???
Can anyone tell me.Does anyone have a surf repair manual they could scan a page from???

Yeah there is nothing under there except a couple of crossmembers and a panhard rod a bit further forward. Perfect for mounting tanks etc. That's where my fuel tank is now.

Surf fuel tank.

The reason I asked is I just scored a Surf tailgate and swingaway wheel carrier. This will leave a shitload of vacant real estate under the tail.
Does anyone know of a tank available at the wreckers which might fit straight in.The area I can use is 700mm wide,600-650mm front to back and approximately 350-400 deep(147 ltrs at a guess)????
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Fold Anthony Rocca up and staple him under there. He needs somewhere to hide.

Yes,, the GQ Tack can be modded to fit in a surf, hit me if you want a link to the writeup. I have a surf and was going to do the same, but didnt in the end, now looking for an aftermarket auxilary.

Out of Town in Newcastle NSW make a 60 litre auxillary tank for that position....

I fitted one to my old 86 4runner many years ago (the tank is suppose to fit the coil models only...
