changing power steering hose

Post by 86MUD »

Hi all

Just split a power steering hose. Any tricks to replacing it?

I was just going to remove the old one and get pirtek to make me a new one. Do I have to bleed the system once I reinstall the new hose?

Cheers

Fill resevoir, preferably with front diff on jack stands, work steering wheel left to right, top up fluid accordingly and roberts your aunt's lover :D

Take the hose with as they will most likely need to reuse your fittings, i had a leaking flared pipe end at the pump and pirtek made it so i could replace just a small section if it happened again.

Thanks all...

Took hose off this morning...it has a really small pin prick hole in the middle of the hose...the fluid must be under a fair amount of pressure as the amount of fluid that has escaped has made a huge mess underneath my car.

Thanks for your help

Is $120 too much to pay for a power steering hose? Does anyone know what a genuine one costs?

I picked up my new power steering hose from Pirtek this morning...looks nice

Cheers
