Camper Trailer Tailgate

Post by Wilko76 »

Hi Guys

A really basic question. I am looking for options to limit how far my tailgate can open. I was thinking about some sort of chain. i was hoping for some suggestions or pics of what people have done.

Thx

Some pics from you would help, like on what vehicle?
The rear door on my zook is limited by a strut.

sorry guys

i mean the tail gate on my camper trailer. I want it to open 90Deg to the trailer. currently it is opening about 120 (especially on un-even ground)and rests on a tent pole. Not a real drama but i like things to be square...lol

tailgate

mine has a piece of flat bar with a hole in it, there is a bolt on the tailgate which it fits onto and does up with a wingnut. Then when your finished it has a bolt in the trailer where it hinges back inside and does up.

I mounted a gas strut from a VT bonnet to my tailgate to hold it open to 90. Took ages to figure out placement and I wasn't sure if it was too strong or weak, but it was a spare. Can post measurements if you need. Opens very nice, but I wouldn't let it open all the way by itself as it would eventualy break when it stops. A second hand VT strut can't be worth anything from a wrecker either.
