Vitara A-arm spacer manufacturer...

Post by Impulsive »

Hi all,

I just asked a local aluminium mob to quote me on a spacer for my Vitara's A-arm (on the diff), sending them the diagram from the link in the bible.

The quote came back at $120!!! I think it must include a pants-down spanking... which is awfully nice, but fair dinkum!!

My question, therefore, is to anyone who either has one to sell, or has had these made up in the past. Where did you have them made, and how much were they?

Thanks in anticipation...

Alloy is pretty expensive - and thats a fair chunk, then you need to allow a minimum of $60/h for time. I think the price is pretty good.

What's the general opinion with replacing the alloy with some HDPE Polyethylene (ie same material as coil spacers)? Is this an acceptable alternative?

Cheers

Turns out an old fitter & turner mate of mine has some poly-nylon material from inside an old commercial compacting unit. He's prepared to make one for me out of that.

Hurrah!!

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

i'll get some made for you if you want. $100 incl postage.

2" or 3"

using steel, 2 plates, top and bottom, and some heavy box tube. you will need 4 extra bolts, as the bottom plate will use the old diff bolts and the new bolts bolt the arm up.
