Yes it can be done. Hobzee and Roger had this set up in the Rangie at the OBC. The reasoning behind it is multiple. Firstly you can both punch in co-ordinates at the same time so you get going faster.
Secondly both the driver and navi have a screen right in front of them with the same stuff on the screen.
