To sell without RWC ???

Hey jus looking for some advice, im thinking about selling my zook, but with no RWC as i dont really have time to get it to that point also it is quite modified with quite a lot of goodies, i plan on selling it with rego cos i know it wont be worth much without it. is there anyway to do this at least half sorta legal?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

remove the plates tell them to contact you when they have rwc and you will give them the plates back

No. Legally you only have two choices. One is to sell the car registered with a roadworthy. The second is to hand in the plates, cancel the rego and sell it as is.
Illegally you can sell the car with the plates on, still registered, get a letter signed from the purchaser stating time and date (to cover you for infringments) and that the car was sold with plates.... but if you get caught out you get fined. Also if the purchaser doesn't get it R/W or gets a speeding ticket etc it will fall back on you even though you have the letter

Its simple.... Just complete the transfer papers and pay your hard earned, the lady will ask for RWC, say you don't have one, the buyer of your car will then have 28 days to produce a RWC(more like 2 months but the time you recieve the letter) or they will suspend the rego

Car is out of you name and they still have they reg. with 4 weeks to act

The rest of the story was, once the letter came, you went to the local Vicroads saying how there was a RWC supplied and they farked up, yell and scream and they would complete they transfer but last time i tried it didn't work like my numerous past experiences

that way you know exactly what needs doing... find your buyer, say no rwc but, can supply with rwc and rego for this much etc.

Your supposed to either:
sell car with RWC which was obtained no longer than 30 days of sale.

or

No rwc..take plates to Vicroads and inform them that you have disposed of the vehicle. They will suspend the rego and will release the plates to the new owner on receipt of a RWC. Hand the disposal form into Vicroads then and there. If you hand the disposal forms to the new owner then you are risk that they may not do the transfer and then watch the speed camera files roll in to YOU.

Also, it is a SHITLOAD easier to sell a vehicle with RWC. Something to consider, although I know it's a hassle.

That will depend on who serves you behind the counter. Technically the Vicroads staff are not meant to accept a transfer without a roadworthy. But somehow it still happens.

Unroadworthy vehicles with lots of mods (i.e. lots of good bits like lockers) are often worth more as parts.

I was in vicroads today getting a moving permit, and the counter women, says to the bloke today doing a transfer, you have 28 days to bring in that RWC

The problem is that if it happens sometimes, depending on which lazy staff member you get, it's not really a good basis for doing a car sale worth a few grand. No good counting on being able to dodgy the RWC system and then finding out that you get the strict vicroads guy that day.

Personally I wouldn't pay a few thousand dollars for a vehicle on the hope that I can sneak through Vicroads and get my RWC later.

I wouldnt buy a car that didnt have a roady, if its that hard for the seller to get one, what chance do I have... Maybe if it had the roady that it failed on so I knew what it needed to fix it up, then thats different, but the price would drop by 100s ....

That's a fair enough comment, but considering it has never failed with the 30 odd cars that i've used the same procedure, i think i'll continue to take the gamble

And when you get the notice to tell you to produce the RWC it actually states the requirement's listing........ a roadworthy must be produced within 28 days of transfer of vehicle
